Did Texas/Georgia set a new benchmark for scoreboard watching officiating?

Pitt may have fine-tuned it a bit.

I'm all for getting the call right, but this is something I've only ever seen once and now it's happened twice. And I believe it was WG_Dawg who mentioned involvement from the scoreboard operator? This is another example of just that.

What's the difference in watching on a tiny little "review" screen vs a giant super high definition screen the size of the field itself?

I welcome the refs incompetency displayed for all to see in 4k slo-mo and much larger than life size.

Some plays are NON-reviewable.

I’m perfectly for it if it means getting the call right, but only if it’s an already established rule that is enforced consistently as possible across all games.

Since it’s only happened twice with many more obvious calls that go unpenalized, that is currently not the case.

This.

Yes, I want the right call 100% of the time, but the logistics are that every single play becomes reviewable, not just for penalties called, but penalties NOT called that maybe should have been called. If this becomes the new normal, every game will take 9 hours to play.

Yes, plus it destroys the excitement. It has happened in international soccer with VAR.

any goal can be checked to see if there was an offsides, or foul in the build up. And it has killed a lot of the explosion of excitement for a goal because it could be taken back.

Imagine if we had that in football and touchdowns could be looked back on for holdings or blocks in the back.

I suppose Neyland doesn't show the replays on their video boards. Otherwise, Bama would be 2-0 in their last two visits to Knoxville.
