On the other hand
Billy Gaypier would commend pope for his conduct and talk about the value of friendship and relationships in the process of molding the values of young men

Damn, that’s harsh. Kid’s an “idiot” for hanging out with a friend? Maybe I’m missing something, but that’s shitty.
ETA: Damn, UGA fans downvoted this response QUICK.

Kirby is an arse for that.

He could have left the idiot part off and just said the rest. Agree with the OP, it's a weird optic given all others to get bent out of shape about.
There is not a game where players, no matter the loss, aren't smiling and hugging old friends. Not sure who it was from LSU, but he ran up and interrupted Milroe's post game interview to give him a hug.
It is just a game at the end of the day. Does he want him to just be an a-hole to his friends?

I don’t see what the issue is. He’s happy for his friend. Reading too much into the “optics” while also saying “I’m not worried about that”
Pick a lane, Kirby. Preferably not the fast lane

Pros on every team in the NFL literally hug it out, trade jerseys etc after every game.

When the field is being rushed you have to get off the field, period. Go find your friend, give him a hug, then haul arse to locker room. Hanging out and celebrating with him is not the same as a quick high five and a hug.

Kirby Smart now officially knows what it’s like being a Florida fan during a game in the Billy Napier era!

What a retard. His star qb was shown laughing on the sideline after blowing the game. And he goes after this dude?

and UGA players have done that hundreds of times too...long after the game ends and all the players on both sides are just milling around on the field. That is the time to do such things, not in the seconds after a game when thousands of drunks are rushing the field and there is chaos all around.

Even more BS they made him post that.
Everyone gets it but Kirby's chapped arse.

Being on the field during a bum rush of drunk Ole Miss students is more safe than on Georgia’s campus at 3am when football players are racing.

I'm not upset at Kirby for this.
Some things I don't ever want to see, and I don't care about the circumstances:
UF players and Noles being friendly in uniform, after a game, on the field.
UF players and Georgia players being friendly in uniform, after a game, on the field.
A coach smiling after a loss.

Reminds of the time when Brandon “eye gouge” Spikes tried to blind Washun Ealy in the Gator bowl. If Urban Meyer had any class, he would have kicked him off the team

Has he called out any of the multiple players arrested over the past 2 years so publicly and harshly? Maybe he has…
