Hurt the strength of Billy's competitive loss last week?

No.
Billy is running a CFB team like its 2010.
And we're playing teams who are treating it like its 2024.

Hrm, good question. I don't know enough about moral victory rules to say for sure. One other side effect is that Ole Miss only has Florida and Mississippi State left on the schedule. If they win out, they go to the playoffs. And, if they go to the playoffs, Kiffin's not leaving Ole Miss. He needs another loss. But it can't be to Florida, or else Napier is coming back in 2025 for sure.
So, if you were one of the hopefuls thinking that Stricklin could take back that vote of confidence and hire Kiffin, you now need (2-7) Mississippi State to beat Ole Miss and probably for Napier to go winless including losing to (1-9) FSU.
So, that was the nail in the coffin if there ever was any hope to begin with.

Curt Cignetti needs to be the next head coach. But, we're just going to stay with Coach Slingblade and go 5-7 next season

I think Cignetti is a good coach I worry how well he can replicate his success.
27 transfers, 13 starters, with 21 of the transfers with 3+ years of experience, many within his system.
A lot are JMU guys from his system (which IS impressive that he's got them playing like this at the B!G level), including one guy who started playing in Dan Mullen's first year at UF, and a couple guys from Clemson.
Long story short, I think he's a great coach, but where's he going to get all those guys, particularly experienced guys in his system, to play at UF next season.
Will they follow him to UF from IU? Do they even have eligibility left?
I think he's good but too many questions for me to have as a firm #1 "have to have" coach.
I doubt we could get a better coach however, so I'd be pleased with Cignetti.
Just wondering how he can replicated getting all those veterans familiar with his system in the portal to have this success? Can he do this every year? Or is he in a Mel Tucker in 2021 /Norvel in 2023 type of situation?
The favorable schedule has helped his success although he has unquestionably handled business in those games.

Let’s see how he does against a team with a pulse next week (.I.e Ohio State). Michigan is 5-5 and they barely won.

He's got a team full of 2 stars at Indiana and they're 10-0. His head coaching record is 138-25.

Cignetti is a good coach imo. But he's had some good circumstances (veeran roster to bring in portal, soft schedule etc) that has helped him this year.
I think he could be a good hire but he is not a "sure thing" or "can't miss" either as some suggest. Could be a higher ceiling but also could be another
up and comer" type shite show. I think he'd be in the middle but it's hard to say with such a small big level sample size.

And I'm 100% confident he'd be a big improvement over sling blade!

But Billy is building a championship program! The close losses to Miami, Texas AN, UG and Texas are proof. Don’t be a Negagator. UF is sticking with Billy, “regardless of the outcome”

I keep wondering if Billy is gonna one day make a fool out of all of us.
...and then the alarm clock goes off.
