Any of you Gadsden boys have inside info on this?

They were forced to forfeit games last year, but still made the playoffs and made it to the title game.

Same story this year, but will not make the playoffs. Not only that, but they are ineligible next year also, unless the school meets "certain conditions."

They were ranked #3 in 2A in the last poll.

Beleive it was transfer rules last season. This season it was illegal coaching outside of approved periods. It made the player(s) involved in the illegal coaching sessions ineligible, so they forfeited the wins in which the ineligible players competed.

They appeal the 2025 probation in July 2025 to seek to regain postseason eligibility next year.

All according to the Gadsden Times

When will the college rules trickle down to high school football? Money, transfer options with housing paid by boosters. all of it. It’s bound to happen. Rush and Hoover was definitely a pilot program to see how it would work.

I know Gulf Shores got caught doing it, and they played for the state title that year (can't remember who won). So we'll see if anyone happens to them.

One of my friends is a Coosa Christian alum. She’s very salty and thinks the superintendent of Cherokee County schools is out to get them. Cedar Bluff resides in that system and they are one of Coosa’s rivals. He sits on the AHSAA.

I wonder how he felt about 94-7 last year?

I live down here but have no connection to GSHS but I can tell you the kid that was turned in was investigated and cleared by the state to play in the title game. FWI the story was broke by Simone Eli who is Bart Sessions wife who at the time was rival 6a McT head coach.

It already has in Tennessee. My youngest son was targeted by a rival school who did everything they could to get him to transfer for his senior season. It was truly an eye opening experience to see the lengths that a rival was willing to go.

What you guys are talking about is not new in Alabama. All of the following is based on the time frame. Bessemer High School, enrollment 700 students, in the 1950's had some of the best high school football teams to ever play. They recruited bought books, lunches and other stuff. I grew up in Hueytown and two of the best athletics ever from Hueytown went to Bessemer. Tommy Lorino, a great high school football player, who played at Auburn on their 1957 championship team, grew up in Bessemer and they moved to Birmingham. He played his sophomore year at Woodlawn (enrollment 3,000). He ran down Bessemer's top running back in the open field and the next year he is back in Bessemer. I think his father had a new grocery store. I watched Bessemer beat Ramsey and Woodlawn in different years at Legion Field with over 40,000 in attendance. Central High School in Little Rock had a two or three year long winning streak and Bessemer traveled there to open up the season and won going away. There are other story lines about those teams, but I will stop here.
