Just imagine the game plan Seth Littrell came up with all week.

You have a bad oline
You are down your top 5 wrs
You use TE’s who can’t block
You have a true freshman qb starting 3rd game
You have good running backs

And as OC, you decide to come out with a pass focused offense. Play one is INT. Second series is a strip sack when attempting to pass. Third series is a pick 6 trying to pass.

Your team is now down 0-21 and the strength of your team - defense - has not been on field for a 2nd series.

It is one of the worst displays of offensive planning I have ever seen. Why not run and if no first down punt deep to allow your defense to work while your qb gets into game rhythm. You have one of the best punters. And maybe you find something with early runs, or see some opportunities with a pass sprinkled in.

But nope, our idiot OC put it all on the shoulders of his true freshman qb. It almost seems like sabotage and malpractice. And the OC still has a job today.

This has been our season. We are fighting on offense with 2 hands tied behind our back. We all knew SEC would be harder but this has nothing to do with that, it started in game 1 of cupcake schedule. And our OC never took RPO away from Jackson to speed up decision tree knowing our oline was a sieve.

There is enough talent to at least be much better on offense however Seth has completely lost it. Its not a new problem its an all season problem. We could have Baker Mayfield at qb and we’d have the same results.

Brent likely thinks you can’t fire an OC only 7 games into his tenure - and using injuries as excuse. But the problems are way beyond injuries, its scheme or lack of one. There is no identity on offense. And Seth is destroying 2 promising young qb careers. Brent has to overcome loyalties and make the tough decision. We suffered thru Riley not firing Mike Stoops and it cost us titles.

There are other issues like key injuries but thats just excusing the pathetic job our OC is doing. You can help your players in many ways, but he is giving them no chance via game plans. This is the worst we’ve in many decades and maybe forever.

I posted this thread earlier, Brent must read this board he took my advice. Kudos for not waiting an extra year like Riley did with Mike

And I’m not convinced JJF is the answer even temporary

You had an experienced QB that has been playing CFB since the Clinton administration. You can blame the OC all you want, but your HC is way over his head. He will be fired by December of 25.

You guys had co offensive coordinators, so it’s just JFF closing out the season.

Wasn’t Kevin Johns Elko’s OC at Duke?

Yes. He was brought in to OU as an analyst now QB coach

Duke On January 5, 2022, Johns joined Mike Elko's inaugural staff at Duke as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.[4] Following the departure of Elko at the conclusion of the 2023 season, Johns was not retained by new head coach Manny Diaz.

He keeps falling up and I don’t think he is good. Our TE room has been horrible and had big promise. Costly mistakes, dropped balls and can’t block one on one.

Venable is not Head coach material. He's that coach that should just coach his specialty which is Defense

Some coaches just can't handle the Head coaching position

Joe John Finley

Better be careful, he looks like someone Sunbelt Billy may want on staff.

Lol at that pic

Looks loke Johns will not only coach QBs he’ll have a role in offense.

Oklahoma has fired OC Seth Littrell. CO-OC Joe Jon Finley will be the new play caller for Oklahoma and former Duke OC Kevin Johns will have a significant role in the offense, per OUInsider

I agree. My worry long term is JJF keeps falling up by default not by accomplishments. And if Johns is really good and if JJF takes advice from Johns, that may make JJF look better than reality. Don’t get me wrong we need to at least show a pulse and I hope we do no matter how so. I just don’t want JJF to get the job permanent is all. I want a true outsider and Johns fits that bill.

OU guy I suspect we do play better but our shitty OL and Non blocking wrs and tes are still there … it’s going to be a long season we just need to hope we can steal the Missouri game and beat Maine ….

disagree he just made a safe hire and it backfired….. injury’s don’t help situation. OUs defense hasn’t been better since 2001. We have half the offense we had last year we win a lot of games.

I am wondering how the heck Auburn lost to Mizzou?
Even Harsin was able to beat Drinkwitz and Mizzou.

It wasn’t just one thing for sure. But the whole offense was out of sync which means bad coaching. How many big plays called back.

And an OC can call plays to best fit the situation. Seth was calling plays as if he had a seasoned qb. How can you come out with a pass focused gameplan? And keep at it to get down 0-21 before defense has taken their 2nd series? RPO requires more “thinking” time to make a decision yet oline gave less time.

Things like that can be adjusted to help. It doesn’t fix the core problems but gave us zero chance to overcome.
