10 years since Mississippi State's first AP #1 ranking

It's been 10 years to the week when Mississippi State was ranked #1 in the AP and the Coaches poll for the first time in our history
What a rise from starting the season unranked to beating Top-10 (at the time) LSU, A&M and Auburn in back to back to back weeks and getting ranked #1 on Oct 12th 2014.
Thank you Mullen and staff, Dak and the whole team for making us proud. Sure, the season fizzled after the loss at Alabama, but we will always have those few weeks where we ruled college football. It was such an exhilarating time for all the Mississippi State fans.

The 'Mississippi Mayhem' SI cover was from the week before (Oct-13-2024) the '1Mississippi 2Mississippi' SI Cover on Oct-20-2014.

Those two weeks were crazy.
The only thing that comes close was 2007 when USF and WVU were both ranked in the Top 2 of the BCS at different points in the season when they were both in the Big East.

But I've never had a problem with any Mississippi State posters. They all seem pretty cool. Except that one welcher.

It looks like the Sports Illustrated covers linked here are pretty shiny.
That was a glorious time for Mississippi State. It's worth remembering and commemorating.
The beauty of college football is that its not all about championships. Each week tells its own story and is worth remembering. Midseason matters too. Sure, it would have been great for them to win the championship, but it was still a pretty glorious run.

Come on. Let's not make this a negative post about Ole Miss.
Ole Miss posters in this thread have been nice and complimentary of State. They had a wonderful season too following the same trajectory as us in 2014 (and beat us in the Egg Bowl)
