The offense just doesn’t have the sync it has had the lat 3 years and the secondary is just porous. It was supposed to be a strength. LBs seem to be a half step slower. I don’t know. Just doesn’t seem to me to be the same level of play overall we’ve seen in the past.

Offense is easy to explain with two starters out on OL and two starters out at RB, another starter out at WR.

Defense is what has me scratching my head. Normally we don't have to stress when we score 41, or even 30, because we have a badass defense. Not this year, we have the horses but somehow we're giving up plays all over the place and look very average. Kirby isn't a moron, Shu isn't a moron, our players aren't scrubs, so I don't know what the issue is.

We’re missing a Jalen Carter on the D-Line. We don’t have any dominant pass rushers or D-Linemen. Maybe Jordan Hall changes all of this.

Apparently the new DB coach sucks at coaching per sofl. But Kirby is a DB guy so I don't see him letting them fall off this much. They are noticeably terrible though besides dirty Dan. Even Starks has regressed somehow.

Omg guys. So much cünt juice flowing. Can’t you see that we are just saving our good plays for the Georgia tech game?

When a safety (dan) is the leading tackler, that's a bad thing.

Where's all these 9-star linebackers?

I have no inside knowledge but my guess is that this is right. They are Willie Martinez lost sometimes

He was previously at USC which has an awful defense… especially their secondary. I guess the main reason he was brought in was for recruiting.

Idk Allen and Wilson are still playing like freshman. Can't shed, slow to react to outside runs, not getting home on blitzes, Aguero had been a dud. Even Jalon Walker and Mykel have been disappointing.

No bueno

Everette just explained everything. Nailed the issue. And the fact he believes this is why we’re not what we used to be:

quote:

"We played good," Everette said when asked about the defense. "You know, we started strong in the first half. The second half I feel like we started to lack energy. Like, even on the sideline and stuff like that. We've just got to learn how to finish."

Not specifically pointed at you Deeprig. Big picture rant here.

Let's pump the brakes on this type of narrative please. Can PWOs not develop? Ever heard of late bloomers? Dan is good, plays with heart and passion and has a lot of time in the program for sure, BUT he doesn't suck. If he did, that would support your comment. Dan Jackson would start at just about any school the way he's played for the last 2 years.

The amount of vitriol in this weekend's threads is sickening. We ARE in danger of being a jaded fan base just like Bama in their hay day when Saban called them out. We led the MSST game the entire game ultimately with a comfortable point spread. Beck had a career game WITHOUT, what is clearer by the day, generational/underrated talent in McConkey and Bowers. Yet we seemed mostly negative for most of the game thread. YGBSM. We're still in the hunt. We play the games for a reason. It is not a forgone conclusion we're dropping 2 more games but to read some of the posts you'd think it might be. We may very well lose to Texas but we might not either. Bama lost to Vandy...who saw that coming??

Each year is going to bring it's own challenges where some position groups will rise and other groups will dip as talent ebbs and flows year to year, especially the intangibles like the quality of the student athlete leadership (I think it's obviously down from last 2 years. My fear is NIL contributes to dysfunction).

I'm as frustrated as the next Dawg fan/alum when they don't reach their potential. I also understand where we have issues as compared to last year and the year before.

However, like CKS said, they can't win 100% of their games every year. Only 2 of Bama's 7 nattys were perfect seasons. That is extraordinarily rare. But we're in the hunt right now annually. UGA has firmly solidified itself as one of the top tier programs with a chance to win the natty every year with literally no end in sight (for now) of that going away anytime soon.

Understanding that, can we have a little more grace as a fan base and not devolve into a puddle of goo after or even during the first drive of every game and start calling for heads to roll? It's a 60 minute/4 quarter game and a long season at a very elite level and we have key players who are injured. Even Vandy is proving to be better than recent years. Every team around us is a little better and we have had a slight drop off. It is what it is.

How about not losing some big picture perspective in game that we ARE in rarified air still? I love following the thread in game because a lot of posters have great legit insights based on actual playing time and some are comedy gold but yesterday I had to put it away. A lot of you were awful to both each other and the team. Grow up and at least try to enjoy the game and get deeper into the game to see how they adjust/fight/overcome before throwing up your hands in surrender at the first sign of a mistake.

NIL is bringing a bit more parity in the simplest terms.

Pretty simple…

DLine getting no pressure
CB’s getting beat more often than not
Not running Frazier
Too many pass attempts to Arian Smith
Beck forcing some throws

DLine is largely a coaching issue. Our blitz packages are awful.

Need to put Starks at Star and Ellis Robinson on the field. That would resolve a lot of our secondary issues

Agreed. However, people being people (especially at 18-23) I can't help but believe that seeing Beck driving a Lamborghini and some working their arse off every bit as much as he does or more and probably living check to check that it doesn't start the envy bug and get in their heads. That presents a leadership challenge internally.

Going into this year my biggest worry was the backend of the defense.. well, it’s proven to be true. It does not help that the first two levels of the D can’t cause issue, get pressure, etc.. Maliki Starks seems out of position often!
In my opinion the offense is not the problem, does it look different than the past few years, YES! They do not have the Oline and or backs they’ve had in the past, hence why they are using Carson’s arm. I understand why they run those sideline passes to the edge, but they don’t have the receivers that can block like they did in the past. My buddy hates Bobo, last night he said’”why is Bobo using these plays against this team, save it for Texas!!” I somewhat agree on that, but hey see if they work, show a different wrinkle!
This team is either going to figure it out, or they won’t?

Cake is baking, people don't seem high on the dB coach but he is just doing what Kirby tells him.

Young guys need to grow up.

That's all Starks has been playing for most of the season. Why, I don't know. Starks should be back with KJ at safety. But Dan is hard to keep off the field. For DB, start Humphries and Ellis.
