I don’t keep up with them much, but since they’re in the SEC obviously we hear from them more than usual. The last 20 years, they’ve won the most games in CFB. They're top 5 most the last 10 years. Texas isn’t even in the top 50. They own the Big 12 and it’s not even close. Sure they haven’t had that big title yet, but Texas won it on a last play of the game almost one time in the last 5 decades. That’s not saying much. They’ve now thumped Auburn.

They get the top Texas players in Baker, Kyler, etc.. but how? Norman isn’t a great city. They aren’t a wealthy school like Aggies.

In my opinion, Louisiana, Georgia and even Mississippi have the best high school talent. Texas and Florida have the most, but the kids from those states are raw, and freaks, it’s just not as many.

So how do they do it? How do they beat Texas 7 of the last 9 years, even last year the best year they’ve had in 20 years.

Seems like they’ll be a solid opponent for a long time.

That was because Sumlin didn't know how to manage a QB controversy.

They get the players you mentioned because Texas didn't recruit a single one. They didn't even recruit Mahomes nor Manziel. This has always been terrible on our part.

Last year, Dillon Gabriel had the best game of his career while Texas was flat and started the game playing absolutely atrocious. Our DB situation last year wasn't good either.

Oklahoma is always good, never shitty.

The only knock on them is that they just haven't won a title in a very long time.

They have accomplished everything else.

'Cuz I don't follow non-current players around.

How did you find that post, and what were you doing when you found it?

As a state or at football? Depending on the scope they answer can be very very different.

But how and Why? Also, their last title came just a few years before Texas last title in 2000. They have 7, which is more than Texas. They’ve been to the playoffs more than anyone except Bama, OSU, Georgia and Clemson. So why does Texas always seem to get the bump ahead of them?

Norman has always been a better place for poor college kids than Austin. It’s a remote enough suburb that it’s basically a true college town.
That may be changing as top recruits are no longer poor.

Unlikely... NIL + SEC is not a good mix for them....

They are a poverty program and their exposure to Texas is going to be greatly reduced not getting 2-3 games in Texas every year.

They won't fall to Nebraska level depths but they will struggle to stay at Texas A&M levels.

Norman is just fine... It isn't a "great city" but it gives you a college town environment within a large metro.

Another thing to consider about OU is that the NCAA restricts how far away from campus you can take a recruit. It is like 35 miles. This allows OU to take recruits to Oklahoma City on visits...

As a result, the recruit sees the college town part of it.... but realizes that they aren't relegated to being stuck in the small college town and being in a fishbowl.

OKC isn't super bright lights and big city but it does provide players with a lot more things to do. Particular the availability of a steady supply anonymous Cougars and MILFS that you don't have in the small college town.

Good coaches and paid players well. Both of those advantages are gone now.

Let’s chat about this for a moment…

Depends on your definition of “great”, personally I’d rather life in normal vs Austin’s “weird”. Maybe Norman is just not a business Mecca or could be that y’all poor bastard get “Wizard of Oz’d” every few years and you’d have to either have severe mental issues or balls of brass to live there.

Just my personal take.

can you spot the program who's 1 and 5 against OU the last 6 they've played?

know your place, boys...it makes everything easier when you take that all too familiar loser trek from Dallas back to the dildo factory

Much of Dallas metro is closer to Norman than any other major program and Dallas is full of OU alumni. OU's football culture is far better than Texas's.

Finally, OU has always recruited nationally whereas Texas and Texas A&M have focused more heavily on Texas itself (because they can).
