It came down to turnovers and coaching.

Our coaches didn't put the effort into this game plan and the players reacted to that.

In the end if we don't have two turnovers we win by 7. Which is still shitty

The turnovers dont explain our inability to get teams off the field.

USF had a 17 play drive. Georgia couldn’t be stopped on fourth down. Vandy abused us.

That defensive effort today was atrocious. The tone was set early in the game and we never really applied any pressure on them. They hit us with a few big plays on the inside shuttle passes and then the play action long ball. But that front 7 got their asses whipped and completely embarrassed.

USF
UGA
Vandy

All had drives of 16 or more plays.

I mean that shite doesn't happen to average teams!

Something definitely has to change with the defensive schemes.

On the other hand, our offense also needs to be able to run extended drives. A team like Vandy that thrives on time of possession is perfectly built to disrupt how our team is built.

I don't think we have any dominant defensive linemen, we've struck out on a lot of our top DL prospects for 3 or 4 years now (Georgia, Texas A&M, etc. took players we previously would have gotten). It didn't help that Vandy had an off week to prep for us and get healthy, while we were playing a physical, emotional game against Georgia.

The most concerning thing to me was Vandy pushing the defense around in the running game. They were getting 4-5 yards every first down it seemed like. Recipe for a loss

The players anointed themselves #1 after last weeks win and it showed. They played unenergetically bad as a team.

That single high safety man defense needs to go. We were just fine with a 4-2-5.
