Has any other “juggernaut” had an Achilles heel like UGA has with Alabama?

UGA has been a force the past 6-7 years, Kirby has had them rolling. That’s obvious. However, even factoring in 2012, and forget the fact that Kirby at UGA wouldn’t exist if UGA beat Notre Dame for a second because they wouldn’t have fired Richt, look at these games that Bama kept UGA from a title
2012
2017
2018-they would’ve been in playoff with SEC title, would’ve been favored against Clemp’s son imo
2023-would’ve been favored to win it had they got in.
That’s potentially 6 titles in 12 years in addition to what they won.
The only comparison I keep coming up with is UT and UF in the 90s but UT wasn’t on the verge of titles every year. Somebody older than me can probably pull out some OU/Nebraska years or ND/Bama in the 70s or something.
And I’ve already disclosed the Richt to Kirby transition doesn’t happen if Richt beats Notre Dame so don’t bring that up but in this made up hypothetical… that’s A LOT of titles that a singular team has been the roadblock
This isn’t a troll UGA thread, sorry for bringing up old memories dawgs. But man, that’s an incredible of amount of “lost titles” due to one team beating you.
Is this a one of a kind in all of CFB history considering what was on the line everytime UGA lost?

In the 90s Tennessee could beat anybody but Florida.

Could, maybe, but didn’t.

Yes. Georgia went 2-17 vs UF that ended about 7 or 8 years ago maybe?

Yeah but in fairness, outside of 2020 and the 2021 SECCG, they've been the beneficiary of some shite situational luck in this series. I know a loss is a loss but goddamn, they would have won the 2017 game running away if Saban kept Tua on the bench.

That's quite a big "if."

If it weren't for Bama we would definitely have three titles, probably four and maybe 5 under Kirby and 1 more under Richt. I think it is a unique situation, but keep in mind Saban is the GOAT so it isn't unexpected

Except for that train Nebraska ran on them which is why I disclosed they weren’t exactly playing for titles every year.

Early to mid 90s Ohio State. 3 times they entered the Michigan game undefeated and lost all 3.

Most have somebody they struggle with even when great. UF and FSU had each other. Texas and OU have each other. Bama and Clemson had each other.....

Just no.
You had it until you mentioned Richt lol

2012. You don't think we beat Notre Dame?

Alabama has an Achilles heel with........Notre Dame leads the series with the Tide, 5-3. Notre Dame also owns the series with Texas, 9-3. Yet, Notre Dame is 0-3 vs. Georgia and Georgia is 1-4 vs. Texas. Go figure.
Alabama has an Achilles heel with ......Texas leads the series with the Tide, 8-2-1. Yet, USC leads the series with Texas 5-2. Yet again, Alabama leads the series with USC, 6-2. Go figure.

...and if the refs call the false start penalty, but neither happened.

It’s all about matchups. The Minnesota golden gophers are undefeated vs Alabama in bowl games. Oregon State is undefeated vs Florida in Bowl games. You need a large sample size. Like at least 10 games to be able to develop trends and those teams from other conferences don’t see the other teams enough. So Alabama Vs Texas is a fair barometer. South Carolina is 2-0 vs Ohio State in bowl games. Would you be under the impression that South Carolina is a much more successful team that Ohio State historically?
Nobody would think Minnesota is more successful than Bama or The Beavers are more successful than the Gators. So these individual games that are played out over several years don’t really reveal any trends.

That was for a potential split title

Georgia is still complaining about some great hits from 14 years ago. Maybe their demise is inward.

I think Richt would have found a way to screw it up. And I like Richt. But he was always good for a game where they looked unprepared and out of sorts
