Could have used some Tubershell football in that 4th quarter.

Probably true, although many AU fans have complained about the Tubershell in the past. The truth is it’s hard to win football games.

Year two, he was in the SEC championship game. Next four years, he averaged 9 wins, won a league championship, went undefeated and should have played for a national title.

I'd take that.

Yep, but he got shite canned. Either that’s good or bad for AU’s administration to do. Personally I’m glad he’s turned out to be a good Senator

Sure. Like Gus - and possibly our current head coach - he had lost the ability to adapt to the game and it was time for him to move on. It happens with every program that isn't fortunate enough to hire a Spurrier, Saban or Smart... which is most of them.

Wish we kept him, frankly

More like our fans and administration don’t understand the sport they manage

He did do well, but the SEC has gotten much more competitive, and for a chunk of his tenure, wasn't Alabama on probation?

The AU job is MUCH harder now.

Tommy Tuberville was really ahead of his time if you think about it. He wanted to smaller and much faster linebackers instead of the giants of the past. It got us killed against Wisconsin and Nebraska with their big boys but it is what beats spread now a days.

It does. Doesn’t mean it’s rational.

Boosters ultimately control the hiring process, not the university. We wouldn't have hired Freezus if the University was picking (AU's board cares about the PR, yknow?). Boosters more than anybody don't know crap about football and it shows. We might genuinely be in another coaching search in a year (or maybe even less).

I can exempt fans because yknow... fans are fans. University is at blame but the boosters have to be included in your statement. Was just amending it.

Yes, that’s why I say AU has a fan and booster problem.

Boosters, Administration, Staff, Team, OTV, NTY all on same page.
Fair weather, arm chair QB’s whose only support is to be critical don’t know how to open the book to access the pages.

College football is harder now. You either adjust or not. Tuberville coached against Saban at two stops, Spurrier, Fulmer and Richt. Four SEC national champions were crowned during his tenure. It wasn't exactly a cakewalk, either.

I don't envy any coach dealing with NIL, but you either adjust or not. Auburn will have a more challenging go of it than an Alabama or Georgia, but we shouldn't be Vanderbilt or Mississippi State, either.

Define 'killed' we actually won that Nebraska bowl game, a low scoring one IIRC.

He's literally one of the worst. He's a massive hypocrite. All those times he was railing about "get a job" and calling people lazy, and he's been one of the dumbest, laziest POS in both coaching and politics that there's ever been. Oh yeah, wasn't he involved in the Colonial Bank scandal, too? Garbage human.
