Herbstreit also said he couldn't imagine anyone not wanting the winner of OU/UF to play USC for the +1 title. (sorry Texas and Utahh) And that would create a perfect system.

He's a tool.

I agree, it was nauseating. Mushmouth is but a small component of the media though. Jesse "North of the border Rico Suave" Palmer is the anti-Musburger.

Jesse Palmer is ONE (1) minor member of the media contingent. There is NO WAY his lone voice can conteract the comined effects of Mussberger, Herbstreit, May, et al who consistently fawn at the feet of the annointed one, Petey.

USC is THE media darling. The National media are frontrunning bandwagoners. They lack individual thought and await someone to tell them who is #1. Once the same name is repeated often enough, it reaches critical mass and takes on a life of its own. For the past decade it has been USC. This will change one day (prolly when Petey leaves). Or perhaps when ND gets a new coach????

Florida would have to win by a pretty large margin to win the AP.

Florida already has 50 of the 65 first place votes, I think it would have to be an awful championship game for there to be a split.

Largely missing for most of this discussion is Oklahoma. What happens when Oklahoma wins?

ETA: Guess I should've read the title of the thread again...

You don't know what the frick you are talking about. I hate when retards such as yourself spew misinformation like they know what they are talking about. UF has almost all of the first place votes already in the AP. If they beat OU, they are consensus national champions. Period. USC is not jumping from 5 to 1 if UF wins. Utah is not jumping from 7 to 1 if UF wins.

They don't have to "win by a pretty large margin" to win the AP. They are ALREADY No. 1 in the AP. In the HISTORY of the AP poll, no team that was No. 1 before the bowls and won their bowl game has EVER been dropped out of the No. 1 slot. Stop being a freakin retard and educate yourself.

Man that's wild. Florida will win, although I think it will be a good game and they should be unanimous #1 across the board.

I dont think Bama blowing it will effect them. A win is a win is a win
