Averaged 2.0 seconds to release the ball, EVERYTHING changes. The line looks better, the receivers run crisper routes, the running game gets going. They crowd the box and try and jump the short routes....and he goes downtown, agin and agin (as Coach Dye would say).

Defense, no 3 man fronts, no dropping the ends into coverage, we take away their running game and start getting some picks when they are forced to throw.

Freeze knows Petrino is a heck of an offensive mind. Freeze has too much pride to put another putrid gameplan on the field this week, he will be prepared.

And Durkin will not wait a whole friggin half to make adjustments if things arent working on defense.

We win by two touchdowns.

Im not willing to crown him, sorry Corch, yet but he looked good last week. This week will be a entirely different situation.

Not a lot of QBs have the "it" factor

Oh I agree Lanier, Im certain he realizes that. A couple of those throws last week would have been picks or incomplete at best against a Georgia or Alabama.

But given the limited opportunities in play he has definitely risen to the occasion.

And from all the interviews I have seen, the players seem to believe he is the best choice.

Maybe its just wishful thinking but it just seems everyone on the field picks it up a step when he is in the game.

I think we know, or should expect, that he is going to make some mistakes today. Its just gonna happen. The question is, how does he react after those mistakes. That was one of Thrones issue. He just could not stop the bleeding and get back on track. It seem to shake him and that is a bad trait for a QB

We could learn a lot about him today

Hope so. We’ll see.
The thing I do like about Hank is quick release. That is Thorne’s number one problem. You can just count every time Thorne goes back and you will see what a problem it is for him. Even on his good throws, takes too long.

Pete, thats why I mentioned that stat, its quite impressive, his average time from snap to throw was 2.0 seconds last week. Pros its about 2.5, and Thorne was over 3 seconds.

Its interesting in the interviews, his decision tree is pared down as he walks to the line of scrimmage and sees the defense, then further when the ball is snapped and he sees what the DBs do, and there are only one or two options, no need to continually scan the field.....unless the two aforementioned decisions were wrong.

Freeze said one of the plays they called had no chance and twice he read the defense wrong, but he made the right decision (meaning he did not throw into bad coverage) on those. And a couple of times he checked us into plays which were better than what we had called.

This point forward he is gonna see a lot more complex schemes so we shall see.

I hope you are right. I am praying for our Tigers today in hopes that there are no injuries and that everyone plays to the best of their ability.
