This is another one I am sick of hearing. In other words, Im a football genius but 85 players cant figure it out so I will have to dumb it down.

So when its the ole 3 yards and a cloud of dust, or the Auburn version, 1.5 yards and a cloud of dust, he will then revert to the ole tried and true, we just dont have the talent to compete.

Tell you what a good offensive coach does, after the defense cuts off your first successful drive, good coaches like Kiffin or Sark, they change their gameplan, and if that does not work, they change the personnel.

Ya dance with the ones what brung ya pardna.

We will no doubt look good on Saturday, but we have no idea where this program is til we see improvement with Ark and a win over Ok, which at this point is unlikely.

A better probability this recruiting class falls apart and we become a bountiful feast for NIL poaching after the season.

But hey we have the culture council and the truth sessions.

Coach: someone whose job is to teach people to improve at a sport, skill, or school subject:

So our coach can't teach his playbook?

I don’t think he said he has to dumb down the playbook. Had to have a smaller package… referring to one the team can execute

I agree with Corch, almost everyone is abysmal against ranked opponents except for Kirby and Saban....and even theirs is not as great as you would expect...

And if our players have the reading comprehension of many on this board......it is understandable why Freeze may need to shrink the package lol.

I don't think any coach lacks coaching ability. Kirby has just recruited well over the years. Every position has quality depth. Lack of talent is hard to overcome. Even when they have an injury, the next guy is just as good.

Corch, nice stats.

So we left out when these guys were offensive coordinators, and we only did it against "ranked opponents".

Okay mr stats, what is Freeze record at Auburn against ranked opponents?????? Apples to apples, lets see it.

Put the big boy pants on and tell us that.

This is the EXACT same thing he said about his previous OC last year. And dumbing down the playbook is synonymous with a smaller package.

And anything simpler than a simple crossing pattern is.....1.5 yards and a cloud of dust when they put 11 men in the box and you try to run it.

I think our coach is saying our QB can't grasp that many plays. We need to send out one WR, because that is all he is going to look for.

Yeah, when people cite these guys I just conclude it takes years of good recruiting classes to really be a consistent team.

Keep in mind they were probably the favorite in the majority of those games too.

Auburn is forever dumbing down the playbook for our players. They've been doing it for 20 years.

I think that means the same thing. Coaches aren't going to change up the actual plays. They will reduce the number of plays the players need to understand and execute.

Maybe they do dumb down plays.. Take out optional WR route trees or something...

I don't know..
