Saw another thread talking about the East-West days. Of course money will decide which way it ends up but do y'all prefer open schedule like now or 4-team divisions?

I like the idea of having OU, Arkansas, and aggy locked in every year. But that'd probably mean we don't get to play some of the other SEC teams as often.

Also curious who is LSU's main rival? Is it Bama?

Doesn’t matter, but we need to dump the SECCG immediately

Think things are setting up for 4 divisions in the SEC & 4 in B1G, similar to NFL.

I agree but can't see it happening. Too much $$$ and that's the driver for everything these days.

I’ve had enough of being in the SECW. Shake it up and move it around for the sake of fairness. The same thing every year got beyond old, imo.

Not happening. The winner of that game gets the playoff bye.

There can be a champion without an extra game.

I agree. All it does is hurt a really good team’s chances to earn an at-large bid in the 12-team CFP.

Unless the B1G and Big12 drop theirs first it won't happen.

If people would agree to a 9 game pod system, you would get 3 perms every year and play home and homes with every other team in the conference every 4 years. But agreeing on the pods is the issue.

3 perms
2 from Pod A
2 from Pod B
2 from Pod C

West:
Tex
Ark (or A&M)
Mizzou
OU

South:
LSU
A&M (or Ark)
OM
State

Central:
Bama
Aub
Tenn
Vandy

East:
UK
SC
UGA
UF

But I’m sure someone would be mad about this setup.

If the B1G went to this setup as well you could set up a yearly matchup with them. Rotate which pods match up across conferences and play finished standings matchups. 1v1/ 2v2/ 3v3/ 4v4. So 1 year OM could play a team from the west coast pod, then the next year play someone from the east coast pod. TV would love that.

I think the divisions will come back in a few years.
Maybe 5 years from after all the expansions are over with.

When I think of "divisions", I only think of "Group A & Group B" each containing 1/2 the conference.

If you are talking about smaller sized groups, that would be "pods".

For me, I prefer pods or divisions so that EVERYBODY's schedule is the same format. The only issue is the MUST BE PLAYED ANNUAL RIVALRIES that, those with them, prefer TO KEEP on the schedule. Therefore, some "creative scheduling format(s)" will be necessary. Of course, this is also determined by # of conference members & # of conference games.

ex.: try to sort this chain of annual games

Miss. - MSU - Ala. - Aub. - UGA - Fl.
&
Vandy - Tenn. - Ala. - Aub. - UGA - Fl.

& the 4 SEC (East)/ACC in-state rivalries:
UGA/GT; Fl./FSU ; SC/Clemson; Kent./Louisville

So, WHOMEVER came up with the idea that we have to play EVERYBODY H/A in 4 years NEEDS to realize that's NOT doable without losing MUST BE PLAYED games or requires LONGER than a 4 year rotation cycle.

Aggy seems to be their biggest rival because normally thread after thread is made about aTm from LSU posters

Yet NOBODY for smaller sized conferences realize you'ld HAVE TO CREATE MORE CONFERENCES.

Unless they put BOTH CG teams in the po (not fair for the loser to possibly be dropped for someone who DIDN'T even make it).

This is what the SEC initially proposed. This format INSTANTLY KILLS DSOR. No thank you!
