I saw Freeze flapping his gums all game. Was it him? Did they split it three ways or whatever explanation he gave before the season? Whoever called the bomb on 4th and short from mid field needs their mic muted. Sorry if this has already been addressed.

The problem wasn’t the play call. Thorne misread the plays bad. There were two wide open slants in this play. Both the inside and outside receiver were wide open.

Another, he missed the throw baf. However, the read was wrong anyways, even though it was a little open. If he looked left, he had a numbers advantage and 1 on 1’s, and Rivaldo was an easy completion and first down. He threw to the more congested side, having to get over/around a LB and in front of a safety. (Not my clips, they just illustrate my point well)

I'm convinced he's being told who to throw to rather than make reads

That would actually make sense- he basically looked at his targets without making any reads- thats how it appeared

If I ever meet him, I am kicking him in the nuts.

Dude is a fifth year senior and still can't see the field or read a D. He must be playing pac-man or frogger when he is at the athletic facility.

It’s possible, but I’ve watched some of his MSU games as well and he did similar things. Lots of staring down one person. Now, it worked out well for him there as usually a guy was open it made a great play, but I didn’t see a lot of read progression.

But, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was being told where to throw it. I’ve always joked about us having money people that want to play football coach as we’ve gone through multiple coaches and basically the exact same scheme seems to be used no matter what. Whatever it is that is causing this lack of basic football play, is beyond ridiculous.

Not saying it is or isn't true, but the same thing was said last year and during Gus's last year or two. If that's true then it is...
A) an indictment of the coaches for not bringing in a quarterback that they trust to make reads and/or
B) an indictment of the system that quarterbacks aren't able to successfully make reads.

Either way it's stupid because if I tell you who to throw it to, there's no way to adjust if the defense changes looks at the last second or successfully disguises their coverage.

From ESPN-

Payton Thorne threw four interceptions in Saturday's loss, a seemingly adamant statement that, no, the Auburn offense won't be much better in Year 2 under Freeze. Auburn is now 24-27 over the past five seasons, and the War Eagle has been downgraded to a pigeon with a mild gluten intolerance.

But Freeze, himself, should be particularly concerned. In his past 16 games vs. FBS competition -- a span dating back to his Liberty tenure -- he's just 5-11 with two home losses to New Mexico State and an offense that has averaged less than 24 points per game

That is a very very very sobering stat.

There is definitely cause for concern. We have been wandering in the desert long enough...............it appears we are in for more.

We finally have all the money people on the same page. We are spending with the best of them. Things should be different. we may not have the talent to compete with the UGA/bama of the world yet, but we should certainly be able to beat the NM St., Cal, and Maryland's of the world.

meanwhile the guy who replaced him at Liberty hasn’t lost a regular season game yet, and has beaten New Mexico State 3 - count em - 3 times in the last 13 months

You could argue freeze left him with talent

I don't think we will truly know the coaching ceiling until year 3 or 4. And that's an indictment of where we were left from prior coaches

True- but based on Saturday- it sure is very disheartening. Are the fans and powers that be going to be patient with 5-7 this season?

Hate to say it but Petrino with Ark-kansas looked way, way better against another P5/4 or whatever it is now a days than Nix and CHF regarding sets, play-calling etc... etc (oh qb looked more prepared/executing) as well. I.E I was lower level sideline.

Yeah- i think we are in trouble. Not throwing in the towel- but any positive rah rah that we could be better this season was done some major damage Saturday. The under, the way under looks more realistic than the over.
