LSU had Markway go off to Nebraska and I assumed they gave him a waiver because he's eligible to play this season.

It looks like part of the new way of things is just letting kids go if they want to go for whatever reason.

Doesn't seem like a good look for either the team or player so I expect to see it happen but not super often.

Maybe things like this is why you end up seeing this all become a straight up professional league sooner rather than later.

Interesting sidenote that LSU may've burned some bridges in St. Louis and the surrounding area with how Markway and Wingo got treated.

LSU is going to have bigger problems if Kelly doesn’t straighten it out.

There’s already pressure from boosters to recruit better, but if the results don’t come in as promised, the players start getting pissed and leave.

It happened after O with a few big name guys .

Yep. People always whined and cried about having to sit out but it made things so much less retarded. if you want to transfer for playing time or relaly any other reason aside from a complete coaching turnover, you should have to sit. Kids playing for 4 different schools is just utterly ridiculous.

Huh? LSU has had the 5th, 7th and currently 3rd best recruiting classes in the nation currently and in the past two seasons.

How were Markway and Wingo "treated"?

That’s my point. There was pressure to recruit better and they have. Meaning that if Kelly doesn’t perform then the players will get restlesss.

St. louis is a ridiculously fickle place.

It doesn't really matter how they got treated, what matters is the perception in St. Louis of how they were treated.

Wingo supposedly felt like LSU pressured him to sacrifice his body more than he was comfortable. I tend to believe this because letting him go into the draft with eligibility left is foolish. Ya'll should've paid to retain him and I assume you tried, would be silly not to grab an NFL draft pick for your roster this season.

And Markway I know for a fact feels like he just plain got ran off. I'm sure you've got more studs coming in at TE but imo it's always dumb to just tell kids they have no chance. Maybe it's easier than managing a full room of good players expectations but it's a bad look.

There should be windows of time when transfer are open.

After last game for 3 months. Then after Spring game untill fall camp starts.

That would coaches 2 windows to tell players where they stand and players would have time to react and move if they want to.

I would hate for players to transfer right before an important game. Even the Pros dont allow that,

I know for a fact this is false. He got a grade he wanted and left. LSU offered a very nice NIL deal to bring him back.

I don't think they were treated any differently than any other school treats DI players, however, the word around STLhigh school football, is that they were mistreated, fair or not.

I do think Markway got ran off, but it's definitely debatable.

These STL bagman in these players ears really messes with their perception of such things.

A lot people liked to crap on Demtrious Johnson and it was ell deserved but the assholes at the private schools are twice as arrogant and meaner.

CBC and DeSmet still kind of hate Missouri. SLUH we got back on our side but they have the least focus on their FB out of those big 3 private schools and they are the least focused on padding their pockets as they are generally actually wealthy where as DeSmet and CBC have more wanna be rich so the money is really important to them.(Think mid level new car dealers).

SLUH was really bad in the 90's early 00's though and would send any kid they could to Illinois because the coach at the time had some kind of deal with them. piece of shite.

This thread is a bad look, especially coming from a sour Mizzou fan.

Yeah, all those StL school coaches care about is the size of the bag, not where it came from.

Ole Miss got a WR transfer 2 weeks from Utah State and he played in week 1. He was already in the portal though.

I forgot about that possibility.

I wonder if teams can pull players that are in the portal out in mid season...

Different rules for Grad Transfers.

Texas got a GT-RB after we lost 2 guys in a week.
