Manziel single-handedly elevated A&M’s level of play. These were some of Saban’s best defensive teams and yet he torched them like they were nothing.
He was the first of his kind. In that era, teams were not carried by QBs as much as they are now. Dude will forever be a legend in CFB.

Dude played backyard ball. He is an interesting story. A super talented football player that just didn't give a shite.

Did we go back in time to 2012?

Even the haters have to admit that when Johnny was on, it was must-see TV. If he had even a mediocre work ethic, he would have had a very successful NFL career.

Manziel, Newton, Burrow...those guys could literally carry a team.
That is why I say Shedeur Sanders is not in their league, no matter how much they hype him.

LSU owned him.
The Tigers showed what was in store for Manziel at the next level. I don't think he had any chance of being successful in the NFL.

Why does LSU fan have to make everything about them all the time? The small peen attitude is equal parts funny and annoying.
Random post: Johnny was exciting to watch
LSU: we owned him!! *shits all over thread*

Sorry for bursting your bubble, but I was replying to the poster who said he thought Manzeil would have been a good pro if not for his off-field issues. I disagree, based on Manziel getting exposed toward the end of that season when he ran into a good pro-style defense. It happened to be LSU.

He played on teams that carried him as long as he did his job well. His surrounding cast had more to do with those NCs, than he did.

I’ll say it right now, if Manziel was playing for A&M during the post-COVID years, he would have won the SEC several times. The SEC has changed so much since the BCS in the fact that teams are much less defensively driven now. It was a much different game in 2010-2014 than it is now

Vince did the same but only 1 ncs. But broke USC’s “dynasty” run.

Yet, when it mattered, he did. That is how he won 4 mvps in 4 playoff games.....

Just facts LSU owned Manziel.

So true. In his Netflix doc, he had the most IDGAF attitude. He was such a headache to go against.

He was surrounded by a starting group of almost entirely 5 stars with few exceptions. Not to mention, playing weak schedules where your first five opponents are all G5 schools makes it a hell of a lot easier

When I saw his first couple of games and defense trying to catch him, it was like big grown arse men trying to catch a chicken. He'd scramble around all over the place and quickly. Fran Tarkington like.
