We were 6-7 last year with a loss to a high school team at home when we were favored by 21.

We are probably where we deserve to be until we prove otherwise. Like it or not, there will be no more confidence in the program until it proves otherwise

I think 41 is appropriate.

We need to prove we belong. We haven’t done that this decade.

fresh - just off the stove

Who are we better, if taken at end last year, that would have been justifiable.

If we manage to go into the Oklahoma game 4-0…and IF we manage to claw out a victory over the Sooners, I think we’ll crack the top-20 mark.
(Staying in the top-20 after that is quite another thing altogether as our schedule gets pretty gnarly through Oct & Nov)

I echo the sentiments of some others in this thread already…until we get our Sh!t together…we ain’t jack-$h!t

AU's roster is 16th in the country according to 247 Composite. But the pollsters don't just look at rosters. There's intangibles like "has this team done shite in the past 4 years?" and more importantly, "Their roster might be pretty good, but do they have a QB?"

AU has been .500 for the past several years and the QB is unproven. I think 40th is too low, but I have no problem not being ranked.

It is somewhat subjective because I would argue an 8-4 Auburn team with losses to Oklahoma, Georgia, Ole Miss and Bama might actually better than a Big XII, Big Ten or ACC team that is 10-2 or 9-3.

When we look at the final poll most teams re grouped by their records. Take the top 12 out for the playoffs, but 13-17 will likely be 9-3 or 8-4 teams that missed the playoffs. 18-22 will be 8-4 teams and 23-25 will be 7-5 teams.

I don't care if Tulane or Troy is 9-3, I would rather be Arkansas at 6-6.

And I think the depth is what’s going to be the difference for us. I don’t recall a team we’ve had in a long time that has quality depth at every position. It’s not Bama or UGA quality depth yet, but when you look up and down the roster there are no positions that we don’t have at least a very viable option at 2 and most at 3. OL and DL particularly

Correct. And that includes half the fanbase.

- Can we consistently hit a downfield pass with accuracy?
- Can we stop an offense with a pulse on third down?
- Can we convert consistently in the red zone?
- Can we maintain any kind of pass rush?
- Can our QB avoid throwing dead duck screens that go the other way for points?

These are the questions that keep us out of the top 25. When we can start answering "yes" to more of the above, we'll return to the lists.

We're not better than anyone above us in ranking until we find a way to be consistently good on offense.

Yes we are. We nearly beat Bama and we completed one pass at halftime. Stop being a lil bitch

That was more due to Auburn jesus running out of juice than anything else you can plan on replicating

The problem about that and the guys saying we "almost" beat bama is, we didnt. And like I stated before, nobody is ever going to forget that and you may as well learn to accept it.

That is why a coach can not ever let that happen. You just can not lose that game.

It is somethng that can not be undeone
