Probably end up at Iowa. Mizzou isn't an option, Norfleet is the starter and the kid from Arkansas is a good blocker and progressing as a receiver.

Dad played at Iowa. He needs to leave SEC if he wants to play this year. SEC rules.

You hearing anything on Iose Epenesa? Now that you're a moderator you have to divulge any inside information, and if you don't have info you must make something up.

The state of Missouri had an off year on talent in 2025 so I thought Lose would become a NIL darling for Mizzou sense he's from Illinois. But that really hasn't been the case, at least so far. Maybe Drink and the collective are waiting to not show their hand. Or maybe Lose hasn't shown enough interest.

One problem is what made him decide to leave LSU? Did he get beat out by another LSU TE? My guess is he might have an injury that he isn't telling anyone.

They have a new OC, than the one that recruited him with Robert Steeples...former coach of his HS in StL ..Desmet..who was the cornerbacks coach for LSU until the end of last season. Not sure if they ran him off, or thought he couldn't play, or was homesick..Baton Rouge isn't for every body, or if he just couldn't catch up..he red shirted last season...so he has 4 years of eligibility left...I'd imagine he sits out this fall and jumps on board somewhere in December.

Don't discount Mizzou though, Stephenson is done after this year, and Norfleet should go pro after his junior year. We have only 4 scholarship TEs , and one is a true frosh, with none currently committed this cycle.. ( hoping to flip someone b4 NLI Day in December).

He is talented, and could push for major time in 26, & 27 after backing up in 25. It could happen.

He can make the room better. He's a definite take if he were to be interested.

I just can't see him choosing Mizzou, sitting a year watching Jordan Harris ( also a 4 star) get better and hoping that Norfleet leaves for the NFL after his Junior year. And maybe Harris is the starter after Norfleet.

He's an Iowa legacy and they do a good job with TEs. Mizzou would be a hell of a gamble for him.

I agree that its a long shot given the legacy. However, I think there's a strong possibility we see more 12 personnel looks this year. 2 TEs attached with Burden and Wease singled up outside with Noel and Cook capable of stressing the perimeter, especially in the RZ.....that's a tough cover. They put that on tape and it's an easy sell.

On a separate note.. I have ties to NE MISSOURI & EASTERN IOWA...this is watershed year for IOWA football...many, many concerns or eyes on HC Kirk LaFrentz...they don't know if this is his last season or not. The offense, the nepotism, drama in the program, and the brand new B1G alignment have raised serious questions from the fans and boosters. Their recruiting has stalled..SEE Lose Epensa & others. The whole program seems to be wait and see what happens this year...

I like Lafrentz ..but I would expect more bang for my buck. But the locals..had to pry his kid out of the OC job from him...a lot of behind the scenes stuff..

Suffice to say...I'm not sold on Iowa

I would be confident Mizzou would be in the mix except for the SEC rule that will make him sit this season. He played in 12 games as a freshman for LSU and word us he wasn't happy being pushed down the chart and an incoming 5 star TE.

Doesn't sound like a kid who wants to wait or fight for playing time. He would have to do both at Mizzou. Wouldn't be surprised if Nebraska isn't a possibility.

With that said, I hope I'm wrong, always good for a talented kid to come home.

Rafe LaFrentz was from Iwegia. But I’m pretty sure the coach’s name is Ferentz.

So I'm reading the transfer rules. Am I correct that Markway cannot play for anyone in 2024 because he is outside the transfer window? If true, then I guess Mizzou could be in play since the SEC rule on transfers is negated.

Correct, we could be. I believe we are taking a look. Stephen's graduates this year, Leaving Norfleet & Harris for next year. REAL possibility Norfleet leaves after 2025. He's got the trajectory for it...( I'm riding the brakes) but he could be special. So he compete here. I can see some three TE sets to go along with our returning WRs for 2024...never know in the transfer era how our team will look after spring. But 3 experienced TEs might be some great running sets, especially after looking a once every decade type guy in Luther. Chances are we were going after one portal TE after the season...might as well be a talented and experienced home grown stud.
