Georgia was established in 1785 so I don't have to go far down your list to dismiss it.

You're surprised that the eastern part of the country is older than the western half of the country?

Maybe the lack of on time graduation isn’t just the football team’s tradition. Maybe it goes back to the beginning
Commencement at the University of Georgia began with the first commencement on May 31, 1804, when ten young men received bachelor of arts degrees at a ceremony in front of Old College which was under frustratingly slow construction.

Texas University is not a member of the SEC. Please see the relevant Article below from Section VII of the Texas Constitution. Also, please note that aggy was established as a department of the University of Texas, not as a separate university.
Sec. 10. ESTABLISHMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS; AGRICULTURAL AND
MECHANICAL DEPARTMENT. The Legislature shall as soon as practicable
establish, organize and provide for the maintenance, support and
direction of a University of the first class, to be located by a vote
of the people of this State, and styled, "The University of Texas",
for the promotion of literature, and the arts and sciences, including
an Agricultural, and Mechanical department.

The University of Georgia is the nation's oldest state-chartered university, which occurred in 1785.
Who cares when the doors opened.

Your cow college opened in 1883

Opened is really the only real measurement
Many universities were conceptually planned long before they were actually a university

The thread said opened. But the 1st graduation commencement was almost 20 years later? Does the football program follow that tradition?

You can't even make a post not about Texas, not about Texas.

In what way? It accurately lists the dates each SEC school opened

UK was a spin-off of Transylvania University which has been around since 1780 and was the first university west of the Alleghenies. I demand a recount, good sirs.

The thread isn’t a competition, it’s simply a list

Louisiana State University Agricultural and Mechanical College had its origin in several land grants made by the United States government in 1806, 1811, and 1827 for use as a seminary of learning. It was founded as a military academy and is still today steeped in military tradition, giving rise to the school's nickname "The Ole War Skule". In 1853, the Louisiana General Assembly established the Seminary of Learning of the State of Louisiana near Pineville in Rapides Parish in Central Louisiana. Modeled initially after Virginia Military Institute, the institution opened with five professors and nineteen cadets on January 2, 1860, with Major, later Colonel, William Tecumseh Sherman as superintendent.

Covered in New Student Orientation when they discuss the beloved "Old Mange", err... Old Main. The South side was supposed to be taller but the builder was from the North and made the North side slightly taller.
Honorable mention to Spoofer's Stone, which some dumb arse from a construction company shattered.
