Thinks he got a "Raw Deal" being fired from Mizzou.

Barry thinking NIL would have led to the same success as Drink's had is laughable. Odom has the recruiting magic of drying paint.

Maybe he shouldn’t have asked Sterk to fire him.

NIL smooths out most recruiting ability differences. Players are mostly choosing where they go by money.

No, it doesn’t. Now coaches are recruiting donors directly. The ability to connect with, inspire and get a commitment from donors is not something that translates across all college coaches.

Does it help coaches who weren’t dynamic recruiters in the first place? Sure.

And you still have to close once you have a parity offer to the kid.

I don’t think anyone thinks Odom would be sniffing a top 10 recruiting class even with the GDP of a small nation at his disposal.

YES!

And my personal peeve with Odom: 1st game of the season, (See Wyoming) and after any bye week, the team looked like had to spend the 1st half learning what they were supposed to do with the funny shaped ball.

NIL helps, but absolutely still have to recruit

I defer to people who know more about it than me.
Maybe this better conveys what I tried to say about Drink vs. Odom vs. Pinkel: I think Drink would be getting top 25 classes, maybe top 15, at Mizzou if there were no NIL. Drink's recruiting ability is actually lessened by the coming of NIL, but I think he adapted well to it. Missouri (and Mizzou) have maximized what NIL can do for Mizzou, and Drink has utilized it well.

Mizzous NIL mostly focuses on keeping in state talent home. The state had an off year talentwise in 2025, and Drink is having his best recruiting class, mostly getting blue chip, out of state talent.

I thought Odom and Cross were onto something with Patterson's secondary over a two gap front. That scheme change couldn't have went worse. He inherited a tough hand but first season put him on his heels the rest of his tenure.

You know what, I was happy Odom got another chance at UNLV. But this just doesn't sit right. I mean, no accountability, just bitching to Arky that he got a raw deal.
