Greg McElroy issued an apology to Tennessee baseball coach Tony Vitello regarding his on-field actions in the aftermath of the Volunteers’ national title.

Vitello, ever the fan favorite, ran into the stands and celebrated with fans after winning the College World Series. McElroy originally called it WWE-like and not classy...

So on Wednesday, amid the backlash, McElroy took time out of the show to apologize to Vitello.

“Wanted to start by just apologizing to Tony Vitello and the Tennessee Volunteers,” McElroy said on Wednesday’s show. “Took a shot at him yesterday and it wasn’t necessary. My frustrations about where we’re at in society boiled over. It was unnecessary. Yesterday should’ve been a day of celebration of what Tennessee accomplished on the baseball field, as opposed to a stream of consciousness, basically, diatribe about all the things that are bothering me right now in my personal life and all the things that are bothering me right now with where we’re at in society.

Vitello looks like an absolute angel compared to his competition. I've been impressed with him this year.

UT’s gonna have to build him a stadium.
Cause Tony & now The Horns are going to be in Omaha
Regularly.
& every year it’s gonna be,” CTV’s playing there?”

Did he do something wild once he was up there? Going into the stands doesn’t seem like something to have a hissy over.

I went back and watched the post game stuff and Vitello was pretty normal to me.

He had an emotional hug with his parents/family, went around congratulating his players, doing interviews

He went into the crowd to thank fans and have fun with them, etc...nothing most young, energetic HC wouldn't do.

McElroy is just being a hater

McElroy prefers to have a coach that bets on baseball games that his team is playing in. What a dumb arse.

Good that he walked it back.

I thought it was badass that Coach V jumped into the stands with the fan and included them in the celebration.

What does being down on society have to do with Tony celebrating with his team? I didn't see anything Tony did wrong. He celebrated with his team, he celebrated with his family and with the fanbase. He's a young active coach & that's why his team connects with him. Sounds like Greg just has a problem with TN & was taking a shot at them & someone made him realize he messed up.

If you don’t know, it would be difficult to explain.

The only issue I had with Vitello post game was the “suck it” move.

Pretty fricking childish.

guaranteed he's either a Democrat, or a RINO Neocon (i.e., Democrat)

Or just a product of the University of Alabama’s cesspool of an athletics program
