Any Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fans on here think both teams will move to Kansas in the future?

It's certainly possible. KCMO already fumbled the bag with the Speedway and Sporting KC, so it won't surprise me if they bungle the Chiefs and Royals too.

That being said, I think it makes more sense for the Chiefs than the Royals. The Royals want to be downtown, which means Missouri.

My guess is Chiefs to KCK while the Royals move downtown KCMO.

At this point it’s which state will be paying most if not all of the bill.

Appears Kansas will do 70%. I think both stay or both move. I don’t think it will split based on the Kansas offer. Missouri will likely respond in kind.

Just a guess but I think they both end up in Kansas - unless they remove KCMO politics from the equation.

Why is it that a public institution, say a university, can go to billionaires and ask for millions to help fund, say a stadium renovation, and get it. Yet if one of those billionaires wants to renovate, say, his own football stadium, he needs to demand the taxpayers fund it?

He doesn't post here anymore, but I remember jafo saying he would dump both teams if they ever moved across the border. I'm curious if others here from KC are in the same boat. Or will still follow them no matter where they go.

I would add that at this point it would be smart of Missouri to just pay 100% before Kansas jumps them.

Assuming the State of Missouri wants them that badly. No point incrementally going back and for with Kansas now that it’s at 70% already.

Go all in or let Kansas have them. I think Kansas will end up going to 100% of cost to get them both.

Personally I hope they leave KC completely and never hear about them again.

Public funding of private franchises is idiotic. There is no gain for the tax payers.

The poorest owner in the NFL, Mark Davis built a dome. With their money and the dynasty that the Chiefs have become, there is absolutely no reason for them to seek such a large commitment of public funds.

Study after study has shown there is No Benefit to the public from stadiums. The NFL will give loans to owners for stadiums at the fed rate. I thought when Jerry Jones built his own dome, this crap would stop.

As long as politicians can be bought, there will be buyers.

I agree. But it appears Kansas wants this bad. Them being willing to pay anything forces Missouri to do the same if they want to keep the teams.

I'm pretty sure that the kind of economic activity generated by pro sports is more in the vein of "but muh GDP" rather than value-generating. The jobs created and taxes paid aren't very beneficial to the community, and most any community would be better served putting the same funds to work in many other areas. Biochemistry or other scientific industry, utilities improvements...

In every chance they had to screw STL the Hunt family and voted against the city.

The Chiefs can move to Los Angeles for all I give two fricks.

In a perfect world for me, Chiefs move over the river, Royals build downtown.

No offense to the KC fans here, I absolutely hate the new "st louis chief" fans. Royals are whatever, I never hear or see any one in STL talking or wearing Royals stuff, dont have any problem with royal fans.

Most casual fans wouldn't know but Hunt lobbied against the Cardinals, the Expansion effort, and Rams all coming to a d then for eventually moving from the city.

So the state of Kansas lobbied for a lottery to help fund schools in Kansas. But now they want to take those funds to pay for a billionaires stadium over the next 30 years?

And this makes sense to the people of Kansas?

He was lobbying for the Bidwell family to move them to Atlanta, and then was going to block any further movement into the city.
