I didn’t realize until this whole shite show that the PGA owns a 50% ownership stake in Valhalla. And that explains why Valhalla of all places has hosted so many majors. The PGA has a huge investment in Valhalla and in Louisville.
I guarantee there have been some very uncomfortable conversations between the PGA and the mayors office.
And I bet that is why local law enforcement and the district attorneys office have gone silent. Normally in high profile cases like this, which are fought as much in the court of public opinion as they are in the courtroom, the chief of police, mayor and DA are all in front of the camera as much as they can be. For elected officials like the mayor and DA, it is campaigning. Instead, they have all disappeared since they admitted there was no body cam footage.
Scheffler’s attorney made the statement that they would not be willing to cop a plea deal and are going to fight it out in court. This normally would have elicited a strong response from law enforcement/prosecutors. Instead the only response has been that the officer did not follow department regulations with his body cam.
The majority of people, outside of Aggieville, seem to be on Scheffler’s side. This includes ESPN. The same cop that arrested Scheffler threatened to take an ESPN reporter that witnessed it to jail as well. It also includes the PGA. This is a blackeye for them too. Scheffler’s attorney has stated publicly that Scheffler was doing what the PGA instructed golfers to do in regards to entering the course. And they have not even attempted to deny it.
So basically Scheffler got arrested for doing what the PGA told him to do. Based on comments, there was local law enforcement there to direct traffic in and out of the course who knew what was going on. But then because of the accident you have a power tripping cop show up who is oblivious to everything who is flexing his “obey my authority” muscle.
Make no doubt there have been discussions behind closed doors about how to make this whole thing just go away. Right now it appears, based only on the body cam statement, they may be leaning towards sacrificing the cop for not following protocol.

Because the police detective violated procedure and did not turn on the body cam. There is no video. Asshat sarge is wrong again.

I can't imagine them pursuing these charges. LPD has been fighting public perception since Breonna Taylor. I don't even believe the story that the body cam was not active; it probably showed the cop grossly overreacted and makes them look worse.
The only way this goes anywhere is if the "woke" contingent of the DAs office decides that they have to do something because they can't let a rich white celebrity skate on a felony charge without appearing racist.

Honestly, I had not considered that they may be lying about the body cam footage. But thinking about it, most body cams in use today automatically film unless they are just turned off completely. You very well may be right.
