I think you should do it.
List out the OOC teams and years going back to 1974 for a side by side comparison.
I'd love to see it.

I know Tennessee has little dick syndrome for OOC scheduling the past 20 years. I'm not familiar with the prior 30. Educate me.

How would you evaluate Tech's talent compared to New Mexico State?

And the Barn has lost their last two vs. GTU.

With the exception of Bo Nix's best game in his Auburn career, the Barn's OOC record is dog shite, so go over there with the UTK fans and sit this one out.

Here's the Vols top two OOC since 1970. The top game jumps out each year, but the second is a kinda subjective choice some years. We had multiple home and homes with Notre Dame, UCLA and Georgia Tech, and home and homes with Penn State, Southern Cal, Oklahoma, Oregon, Clemson, Miami, Utah, Pitt, Syracuse, Wash State, Cal, Duke. No bowl games included.

1970 UCLA, GaTech
1971 Penn State, GaTech

1974 UCLA, Clemson
1975 UCLA, Maryland

1982 Duke, GaTech
1983 Pitt, Rutgers
1984 Utah, Wash State
1985 Utah, Wake Forest
1986 Army, GaTech
1987 Iowa, Boston College
1988 Wash State, Duke
1989 UCLA, Col State
1990 Notre Dame, Colorado
1991 Notre Dame, UCLA
1992 Louisiana, Cincinnati
1993 Louisville, Duke
1994 UCLA, Wash State
1995 Okla State, South Miss

The point of reference was about 2nd toughest game.

You did the research for the games played. You should know this.

2023 - GT, Ball State

We played home/away with Clemson, GT, South Carolina nearly every year from 1963-1990. So in years where those three aren’t listed during that time you can generally add them in as well. In addition during that time we played Pitt, Duke, Baylor, TCU, UCLA, Texas A&M, Wake, Oregon, Cal, Oregon State, NC State, NC and others.

My take. UGA has numerous long standing out of conference rivalries, Tennessee doesn’t.

Incest State is D3, so UTK can't play them OOC.

I believe it’s more of a reflection of UGA poster ignorance than anything else.

Vols played UCLA, Notre Dame, Miami, etc. great series all. Vols fans travel well and play anyone anywhere in marque matchups. They play move than just a home and home or UGAs favorite trip a game at home and a neutral site game an hour from UGA. Never leaving the SEC states if fine for a regional program I guess. Maybe UGA fans are just too poor or disinterested in traveling.

Imagine if the Vols had the balls to play 2 p5 OOC games on the regular.

They dont because that isnt the norm for most teams.

UGA is one of the few brave enough to do it.

You listed them every year. Take out the bowls too those are not scheduled games. And take out all the home and neutral games. If you want to do this be intellectually honest with it.

Such a dumb take.

Uga fans have sec title games and playoff games to pay for.

A jealous vol fan wouldn’t understand how expensive that becomes.

I didn’t. I only listed the best two teams, not all the teams.

For instance these are all regular season

1970 - we played Clemson/SC/Tech
1971 - @Clemson, @South Carolina, @Tech and Oregon State at Home
1972 - Baylor, NC State, Tech
1973 - Pitt, NCState, @Tech, Clemson
1974 - Oregon State, South Carolina @Clemson, Tech
1975 - Pitt, Clemson, @South Carolina, @Tech

I can keep going but it continues on like this with all 3 of the regulars + another decent team or two all thru the 70s and 80s.

We played SC 42 times before 1992 when they joined the SEC.
Weve played Clemson 60 times overall.
60s/70s/80s these schools combined with Tech were nearly always on the schedule. These are rivalry games to many.

I didn’t include bowls.

The UT guy I replied to included home games and neutral site games.

After saying you were not going to count them. But I digress.

For instance these are all regular season

1970 - we played Clemson/SC/Tech
1971 - @Clemson, @South Carolina, @Tech and Oregon State at Home
1972 - Baylor, NC State, Tech
1973 - Pitt, NCState, @Tech, Clemson
1974 - Oregon State, South Carolina @Clemson, Tech
1975 - Pitt, Clemson, @South Carolina, @Tech

Looking for the road OOC games in non SEC states… not a damn one. It’s almost like I was right.

Neutral site games not played in an SEC state would be allowed. I needed to clarify because UGA generally plays neutral site games in Atlanta.
