If this is their strategy, imo, this is the best idea. I don't know why the NFL got away from developing QBs the right way. Last few years, it's been let's throw their asses in and see what we get. If we suck (which we probably will), we'll have a high draft pick waiting to replace him or something like that.

I agree with letting QBs develop, the problem is they're about 5-6 years too late. They should have let someone sit behind an aging Matt Ryan and learn from the best QB the Falcons ever had.

This is because of the rookie wage scale that was introduced in 2012. The biggest advantage in all of professional sports is having a good QB on a rookie contract.

By paying Cousins $50M/year, they are pissing away this advantage.
