This isn’t a surprising development if this is a month ago. It was surprising that Brockermeyer challenged for the job. We know that Brailsford is talented. We expected him to start there next year when he transferred in. Now, missing most of the spring doesn’t help his transition to Alabama but clearly the offensive coaching staff knows his ability and understanding of the offense.

I am certain that was iterated to Brockermeyer in post spring interviews. He had not won the job yet. And that being the case, he felt his best chance to start was going elsewhere. Good luck to him.

I believe last year Brailsford started at guard and then moved to center. He did extremely well. He knows Deboer's offense. DeBoer said he had been working out on his own and would be ready when he returned. He didn't seem the least bit worried about him.

Brailsford didn't practice this Spring, so I don't think Brockermeyer really challenged anyone for the job. Joe Ionata and William Sanders were the only other guys playing Center this Spring. Regardless, I thought Brockermeyer looked pretty good at A-Day.
