Most Bama fans wanted him to get a (another) contract extension. Even now, I'd welcome him back.

From his commentary on the SEC Network, the dude does seem like he knows football.

No, but we should have had a plan in place when we fired him that didn’t involve Brian Harsin.

You seem to be more worried about it than we are

8-5 would be a big improvement on what Freeze has going.

I’m not worried tard. Why are you?

3 losing seasons in a row.
They're down bad. Real bad.

Freeze has been there one year and had very little to work with. He will get a year or two longer. Either way, a routine 8--5 isnt that special, and not that much different than 6-6.
Did Bama regret firing Anthony Grant when Avery turned out to be mediocre? Why does Bama ask such stupid questions?

I didn't suggest they regret firing him. It's clear a lot of fans are still holding out hope on the current guy.
But the harsh reality is they probably wouldn't have been any worse off. Gus certainly has never had 3 losing seasons in a row, or at all for that matter.

Please elaborate
Auburn's downward trend started with Malzahn.
It began when substitution rules were changed and his no huddle lost its advantage.
It escalated as our defense turned into swiss cheese and outscoring opponents wasn't so easy. (see above)
It mediated a bit when Malzahn was forced to hire Muschamp and we rebuilt the defensive roster. For several years, Kevin Steele's defense saved Gus' job.
Soon stacking the line became an easy defense because Malzahn didn't feel the need to recruit offensive linemen and said as much. His offense, save for a blip with Jared Stidham and Bo Nix running for his life was completely ineffective. The very few of his players that went to the NFL were unprepared and had to practically relearn the game.
Our roster was a disaster when Harsin came to town. Harsin didn't feel the need to recruit, so it got worse. The only reason Hugh Freeze was hired was his ability to recruit and that hole was dug entirely by Gus Malzahn.
So, there ya go.

quote:They’ve fixed that. Hugh is basically Gus with some baggage. Recruits very well. Plays Bama tough. Doesn’t understand the line of scrimmage or how to develop players. Inexplicably, craps the bed a couple times a year.
Should Auburn have kept Malzahn?

Forgot about Harsin. That's easy to do.

Literally none of those numbers come from Malzahn. 1/3 of them do come from your current coach though.
