Basketball loses more players early on in their college career than any other sport, I'm guessing. Take a look at this......
One notable statistic about John Calipari is that.......from 2002 to 2018, all 25 players coached by Calipari who chose to enter the NBA draft after their first season were drafted in the first round. This streak started with Dajuan Wagner at the University of Memphis, and ended when Kentucky Wildcat Jarred Vanderbilt was not drafted until the second round.
Had these players stayed at least three years instead of bolting for the NBA after only one season, could Calipari have added more titles to his trophy case? My guess is yes.

They didn't go to Kentucky to play school.

Who knows how many more titles Cal would have won if all the players he and everyone else knew would leave after 1 year regardless of where they went to school didn't leave after 1 year?
Um, yes, sure.

His fault for over recruiting. He knew those guys were gone after a year. He thought he could overcome the lack of experience but he proved very succinctly that the strategy is a failure when it comes to winning championships.
He stayed arrogant about through the years as well. There is no duplication of the pressure that the NCAAT creates. And throw in the one game and your done deal, it is very understandable that championships have been few and far between for UK. Or even Final Four trips for that matter.

And that is precisely why we are tired of him. All that talent and only one title to show for it.
