Florida and Auburn have historically had "spotty" success. Florida didn't win the SEC until 1991. Auburn is always up, down. UT is the one that baffles me. They were really good for a hundred years until Fulmer was let go and have never really gotten back.

Now as far as Ole miss and Mizzou, I'm not sure I would call them "elite". Maybe competitive is the word.

All depends on your time frame and your definition of elite. If you turned in a performance as the 8th or 9th best team out of 134 FBS teams that would land you in the top 6% or 7% respectively of the category. So I would submit that for the 2023-2024 season Mizzou and Ole Miss “played” at an elite level, which was the OP’s assertion.

Speaking for MIzzou only now…

Now does that make MU an elite “program”? Of course not.

Can Mizzou continue to perform at an elite level? We’ll just have to wait and see.
