Linking SDS and its ilk should be an suto-ban.

Alabama fans have absolutely stormed the field at times and it's hilarious to watch Alabama fans pretend it hasn't happened.

Alabama Fans Claim They Have Never Stormed the Field, We Looked into It
Alabama Fans Don’t Storm the Field. Here’s Why.

But is it true Alabama fans have never hopped the fence to celebrate on the field or is it a boastful revisionist history?
In the modern era, yes.

There hasn't been one opportunity where Alabama would rush the field, and even if there was, it wouldn't happen

You didn't read that top article did you?
quote:
Alabama football slipped far from the early success of Wallace Wade and Frank Thomas to the point of a 19-game winless streak from 1954-1956. So while a 13-12 win over Mississippi State might not seem like much to celebrate today, the Denny Stadium homecoming crowd of 25,000 was apparently quite impressed. Photos from the next day’s Tuscaloosa News showed fans on the playing surface celebrating with players after chanting about wanting a new coach in the second quarter.
“Bama fullback Don Kinderknecht gets a pummeling from some happy students …” read a photo caption on Page 5 of the Oct. 28, 1956 paper.
quote:
And that led to one of the more notable fans-on-the-field moments in Alabama lore. Alabama had lost four straight Iron Bowls to Auburn from 1954-58 entering Bryant’s second year. A 10-0 Crimson Tide win sent the well-dressed fans past the Legion Field fences and toward the goalposts.
And, as the Huntsville Times front-page headline read, the fans weren’t exactly successful.
“Goals Prove Just As Tough As Tide Team: Fans Effort To Rip Goals Futile…,” the headline read above a story that led with “The Walls of Jericho came tumbling down, but not the goal posts at Legion Field.”
quote:
From all directions they poured onto the field, milling with coaches and players, screaming and waving banners,” read the Nov. 29 story in The Birmingham News where a front-page photo showed fans sitting and straddling the crossbar. “Then a few of them rushed the north end zone goal posts and strained to rock them to earth. A few were quickly joined by a throng. And when they couldn’t remove the cemented posts, they scampered up the crossbar, cheering, swimming and going mad with sheer delight.”
quote:
Skip ahead to 1990 and Alabama was the program suffering through four straight Iron Bowl losses before Gene Stallings took his first swing as head coach.
So a 16-7 Crimson Tide win lit a powder keg in the Alabama student section, and eventually, the Legion Field artificial turf. News accounts differed on numbers and video of the postgame wasn’t clear but Alabama students tried to rush the field as the game ended and Birmingham police officers were there to greet them.

Talk about reaching back into history.

Interesting that you left out the field storming in 1990.

You mean the one where no one actually went on the field? If a tree falls in the forest… and no one runs onto the field, is it a field storming?

Birmingham police officers were there to greet them.
There is a way to prevent field storming apparently.

Sounds like a few of them did.
From your article:
quote:
Approximately 20 people were arrested on the field but a few got away because the 50-60 police officers on-site for crowd control ran out of handcuffs.
quote:
“One of the kids with us ran and two police officers went after him and grabbed him as he climbed the fence,” student Brian Shafer told The Birmingham News. “The crowd was hitting the police officers and they were hitting back. The crowd helped him get over the fence. He ran off and got away.”

Ah, so twenty something people is now considered storming the field. Got it.
I don’t know if you are good at storming the field, but you are certainly the best on this site at moving the goalposts.
1990 Iron Bowl Video
Just look at all that empty green grass in the background. Where are all the fans?

You are actually the one moving goalposts here.
Alabama fans say they've never rushed the field, I provided evidence to the contrary.
You tried to explain it away by saying it wasn't enough students or was too long ago.

It is almost like you didn’t even read one of my first quotes. The first time, the second time, or the third time I posted it. Maybe you will read it the fourth time.
Yes, modern era.
Can you imagine how much someone would be ridiculed on this site for referencing things that happened in the 1950s? The last people that stormed the field at Alabama would be in their eighties now.
And you are the one that is claiming 1990 was a field storming. No one is buying that. There are too many videos and photos that show there clearly wasn’t.
And you seem to just completely ignore all the articles linked that say Alabama has never stormed the field. You should correct the internet, because they seem to agree that Alabama hasn’t stormed the field. That is because rational people aren’t digging through the archives of 1950s newspapers like you have and they certainly don’t consider twenty people running onto the field, only to be tackled and handcuffed, as storming the field.
You obviously are trying to out semantic them too.

Your article's "modern era" is since 2004.
Alabama fans say they've never rushed the field, not that they haven't since 2004.

Alabama fans bring up their national titles from that time period all the time.

Because those articles are clearly false.
quote:
they certainly don’t consider twenty people running onto the field, only to be tackled and handcuffed, as storming the field.
Twenty people were arrested, the article also says many more were turned back by police and several got away as well.
I guess you could change your claims to Alabama fans haven't rushed the field since the 50's.*
*Because the Birmingham Police wouldn't let them.

You are still arguing that Alabama stormed the field in 1990.

It obviously burns you up that the media has decided and declared that Alabama has never stormed the field. I should have brought some marshmallows, because I can feel the heat from here.

The media says a lot of things, I recall reading an article on Saturday Down South that said "Alabama isn't Alabama anymore."

The Gators have stormed the field. I was there and saw it. It was in the mid 80s - probably ‘84 or ‘ 85 at the cocktail party. UF fans were so thrilled to have actually beaten UGA after years and years of frustration they stormed the field. Jake Godbold, the mayor of Jax was so happy he said it was a wonderful celebration and the city would pay for goalposts every year if UF won. The next year UGA won and UGA fans went on the field only to be arrested and beaten with Billy clubs. It caused a major uproar. Vince Dooley and UGA were not happy about the unequal treatment of our fans and for awhile the future location of the cocktail party was in serious question. It took a lot to get Vince Dooley really angry but this did and UGA was prepared to refuse to play in Jax unless things changed. Apologies were issued when Jax officials realized that Georgia meant business. People were outraged that it was fine when UF fans tore down the goalposts while UGA fans were beaten and hauled off to jail for doing the same thing.
So yes, the Gators HAVE stormed the field.
So yes, the Gators HAVE stormed the field.
