This thing is OVER!
It would be wise for Georgia not to go forward with this sham.

It means college tuition is bloated and a scam, and everyone knows it.
Have you noticed the "free college tuition" signs at McDonalds lately?

NCAA has been investigating at least a dozen other schools for the same NIL issues. It will be interesting to see what states join this lawsuit now in order to protect their schools.
They don't really need to. This is a federal court case involving a decision under a federal statute/federal law. Whatever the court decides effectively applies to everyone. It's not limited to a decision under Tennessee law that would only apply to Tennessee schools or a decision under Virginia law that would only apply to Virginia schools.

I thought I I heard or read that other states would probably join this. Because right now it only applies to the states of Tennessee and Virginia. But I guess we’ll see.

I'm not clear on whether the temporary injunction applies only to Tennessee and Virginia. I think as a practical matter it applies to everyone, because the NCAA isn't going to go after anyone while the injunction is in place, but the court's ultimate decision on the merits of the case under the Sherman Act would set a precedent for everyone, just like the Supreme Court's decision did in the Alston case.

Actually, winning the injunction IS a surprise. A pretty damn big one. I expected us to lose on the injunction and win the case. This is a bigger defeat for the NCAA than anticipated.
When the DOJ backed the portal suit, they telegraphed where this was going. The portal case has the same antitrust angle — Said the NCAA was limiting earning potential & basically outright cited bidding wars for that argument.
In this case, the NCAA allowed athletic departments to partner with collectives for NIL & then said “but hey, even though it’s facilitated by your AD — it isn’t relevant to recruiting athletes”.
Organization has always been terrible, I don’t like where CFB is headed but still glad to see them held accountable. They had an opportunity to implement revenue sharing above board but decided to go down with the ship instead.
Tenner AD actually nailed it in the initial press release — everyone has been so disingenuous about NIL… but especially the NCAA. I can’t imagine them being given an inch on anything NIL-related at this point.

Correct. I think a lot of people have confused things because there are 3 separate things. There's the case, the temporary restraining order and the emergency injunction.
Tennessee and Virginia lost our request for a temporary restraining order but the Judge had commented that we were likely to win the case. This most recent ruling was for an injunction which we won. (Both requests were to stop the NCAA from being able to enforce NIL at this time).
The main difference between now and then appears to be that the Judge didn't buy that Virginia and Tennessee would suffer irreparable harm if the temporary order wasn't granted prior to the hearing on the injunction (especially since the hearing on the injunction was coming up - and has now been ruled on).
That said, it's worth noting that while reports emphasized harm to the states on the restraining order they emphasized harm to athletes on the injunction. Without seeing all the documents, I don't know if this means that different arguments were laid out or if that's just what reports keyed in on. It appears that Tennessee and Virginia presented more than just monetary losses as evidence of harm to student athletes given that Judge Corker wrote, "it is now clear that the harm is not strictly monetary."
Mars and Spyre were prepped for a loss on the restraining order and injunction without either really effecting the ultimate outcome of the case which they've always expected to win. Most sports lawyers will tell you this case was always going to happen, the only unknowns were who the players were going to be but the Alston ruling made it inevitable.

Yeah, the die has been cast, the boot's on the throat.
All the whining and mewling by the NCAA and their useful idiots in the GUMP, OSU and UGA fanbase ain't gonna change anything at this point.
This is the dawn of a new age.

Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia have been investigating schools seem fit to be a threat to their reign. To try to avoid detection, they have to be act in the form as the NCAA.

It's not going to matter because the decline is about to begin.
