Actually, winning the injunction IS a surprise. A pretty damn big one. I expected us to lose on the injunction and win the case. This is a bigger defeat for the NCAA than anticipated.

Thank you, Tennessee. Hats off. You're doing work that will benefit us all.

Really? From the transcripts I read and the reports from the case it was embarrassingly obvious the NCAA was not even sure why they were there.

I’m just curious.

Why would any college football fan outside the cities of Knoxville, TN & Charlottesville, VA celebrate this?

Sanctions or not Tennessee isn’t winning anything more than a preseason championship

You're assuming anyone outside of Tennessee cares about the Vols.

Because the death throes of the game as it is are untenable. Better to move to the super conference quasi NFL minor leagues and be done with it.

The injunction is related but separate. The reason I thought we'd lose that phase is because we were asking for a temporary halt in the NCAA's ability to enforce in NIL rules at all. The case itself is soon enough on the calendar that it tends to be more difficult to get that kind of injunction because you have to show harm and a lot of judges will tell you to wait for the ruling. This tells me the judge basically feels it's all a foregone conclusion -- more so than we thought prior.

Gee, just as we've been saying.

Time for the peanut gallery to eat crow.
