Love wrestling. Our local High School coach was a national coach of the year. His wrestling teams are top 5 in the state, some times state champs.

"I would have all of my Offensive Lineman wrestle if I could."
- John Madden
I think you'd be amazed at the number of nfl players who were wrestlers.
Jeff Bostic-SC State Champ
Curly Culp-NCAA Champion
Ray Lewis-Florida State Champ
Chuck Noll-PA State Champ
Warren Sapp-Florida State Champ
Tony Siragusa-NJ State Champ
Literally hundreds of star nfl players wrestled in both college & high school. Maybe you should convey to Ray Lewis your feelings about the sport?

Maybe the trannies will do something useful and mess up title 9 so we can get those sports back?
More schools will start women's wrestling programs.

That’s absolutely awesome. Wrestling is an awesome sport and it’s a shame that it’s not more popular in the south. It’s a perfect sport for the kids not big enough for football but who are still good athletes.
I loved wrestling all through high school

Girls on wrestling teams was common 25 years ago. I’m surprised it isn’t a thing yet.

wrestling is gaining traction down here, with women's wrestling being one of the fastest growing sports across the board.
some truly amazing programs at the youth & high school levels. i.e. Stronghold Wrestling (formerly Warrior Academy) and Thompson High school are becoming quite a pipeline.. Dora, Arab & several more are all quality...most of our accomplished wrestlers move to the traditional MW, NE regions for obvious reasons..but with more & more universities starting programs i believe it's only a matter of time before we make our mark.
Huntington College & The University of Montevallo (first year program, with several guys I'm very proud of receiving scholarships) are the only two schools in Alabama offering scholarships for wrestling...iirc
fantastic sport.. you'll learn exactly who you are & what you're made of on the mat.

I figured most had club wrestling - my son plays high school lacrosse but in this part of the country a majority of colleges just have club lacrosse
As a whole yes. I know Duke has it.
High Point University (North Carolina)
Jacksonville University (Florida)
Mercer University (Georgia)
Here is a web Site that lists every school (College) that offers Men's Lacrosse. If your son is good and wants to try to play it on the collegiate level you can start here. It has it on the Div. I, II, III, NAIA and Junior College level.
You probably are already familiar with this site, but if not...
NCSA College Recruiting
Good luck to you and your son. I hope he gets better and better and has an opportunity to play on the college level.

That’s cool. How many KU alum have been in a match with 500k PPV buys?
And that’s just Ben. Chandler might double that in a few months.
Also how many NCAA schools have ever DOMINATED a pro sport? A few years ago Mizzou wrestlers had THREE major MMA championships at the same time.

quote:Yeah... LSU used to have both wrestling and men's gymnastics until the early 80's.
SEC schools once had wrestling teams back in the 60s & 70s. But, blame it on the women and equal rights...wrestling and other sports went bye-bye.
Per wikipedia
quote:
LSU fielded a varsity men's wrestling team from 1968 to 1985. It won seven Southeastern Conference titles. The team also had two eighth-place finishes in the NCAA Tournament in 1983 and 1984
quote:
From 1979 to 1985, the team was coached by Larry Sciacchetano. His teams won five Southeastern Conference titles
quote:I remember this, because both of my older brothers wrestled in high school in the early 80's. At that point, LSU had become the dominant program in the SEC, and was beginning to make inroads on the national level. We hated that they shut it down.
The wrestling program was dropped as a result of Title IX compliance in 1985
