There's a lot of confusion about the seeding, I've seen both ways.
According to ESPN, the top 4 seeds (those that get byes) will be the top 4 conference champs:

So if this is correct, the byes will be SEC, Big 10, ACC and Big 12. No other realistic alternative.
Doesn't matter if SEC is #1 and #3 AFTER the SEC championship, or Big 10 etc.
And no, the Pac 2 will not bump out the ACC or Big 12, and no other conference will.
It's going to be interesting, if the Big 12 has a 10 win champ, and gets a bye, while you see SEC or Big 10 teams that might have 1 loss, ranked ahead of them, and have to play first weekend.

The four highest-ranked conference champions will earn the top-four seeds and receive a first-round bye. The other eight teams will play in the first round, with the higher seeds hosting the lower seeds either on campus or "at other sites designated by the higher-seeded institution.

the big 12 should just claim a tie like they did with Baylor and TCU. I'm sure it will work out well for them again

I’m not going to watch the new Big 12. I even lost interest in seeing any Deion games.

I remember that one year Ga. Tech played for the ACC championship with a 6-6 record. If they had won they would not have gotten the bye over the highest ranked non-power 5 champ.

Some lucky lower seeded team will get an average ACC or Big12 Championship team in the second round.

no, the top 4 team that has to miss out on a bye gets the 5 seed, and thus will play the 4 seed in the second round, not to mention they will play the G5 rep in the 1st round. easiest path to the simis, better than finishing 1 or 2

I couldn't disagree more. The new Big 12 will be very interesting.

Ok,... there's always that technicality. It could happen to any conference. At that point, is it Liberty? Or is Oregon State/Washington State going to have the record to pass them? *Note, one of those 2 teams WILL get the Pac championship, and will be higher ranked than 4 of: CUSA, AAC, MAC, Sun Belt, Mountain West conference champ.
I guess the bigger point is that there will only be 1 SEC team getting a bye, and only 1 Big 10 team. No matter what. Not even if those 2 conferences have 9 of the top 12 seeds, which could be the case in many years.

Will the #1 seed get the lowest seed or would they have to play the winner of #8 vs #9?
