quote:playing 1 v playing 25 is a huge discrepancy. Is this ranked at time of game or end of season? Also a huge discrepancy. Seems like a delta vs spread home vs away would be a better indicator of home field advantage. Haven’t really thought through it though.
Looking at games against ranked opponents only… comparing home winning % to road winning % and taking the difference… since the 1980s

Except that home field advantage is considered when setting the spread.

You are correct, but if you look at just win% against Top 10 teams, LSU is still #1 in advantage and Auburn is #2 since 2000. Same top two as Top 25 advantage.

End of season. At time of game is not an accurate measurement because a lot of Preseason Top 25 teams were never really close to being a true Top 25 team.

You are absolutely correct on this, but finding historical games spreads is a difficult task. And even if I did have access to them it would be very time consuming to figure.
