I don't know why anyone wouldn't think this is true. Everything Byrne said, and the time line points to Byrne quickly deciding Deboer was the guy they wanted and going after him.
You might even wonder if the possibility had been floated to Deboer weeks earlier since he wouldn't sign his contract extension at UW.
