Yes. This isn't really comparable to Golding. Wommack had success at USA as a DC, got hired by Indiana, had success in a major conference as a DC, and was then hired back at USA to be a HC, where he also had success. To compare his resumé to Golding's we'd need to turn the clock back to before he went to Indiana and hire him from USA when he was just their DC. Alabama was Golding's first taste of major conference college football. That's not the case for Wommack.

Yup and from a recruiting or pressure cooker standpoint. I don't think it really matters. No one cares about Indiana football.
I don't draw that great of a distinction between UTSA and Indiana. Others might, I don’t.

For 2 years, and 1 of those years (his first) they were awful. The second year when their defense was good was 2020 and the B1G was a disaster that year due to COVID protocols.
I agree with Pandy that there are similarities between the hiring of Golding and Wommack, so I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to be skeptical.
A lot of people are excited about Wommack because he's never had this kind of talent on a roster, but it's not guaranteed that Alabama will continue to have a top 5 (or even top 10) roster from a talent standpoint and the gauntlet he'll face week in and week out in the SEC will be a completely different animal.
So, it may wind up being a great hire, but it's tough to know how things will shake out without at least seeing what kind of roster we'll have come September.
