Dude won 6 natties in a decade and a half but you think people are going to remember him for some 16yo kid almost flipping to Auburn while he was head coach lol

quote:Exactly. He lost his advantage of being the only school that could flat out buy players and not get punished for it. Level playing field with NIL and Saban quit.
That just tells me he knew when to hang it up
Williams told him War Eagle. Saban resigned hours later. fricking glorious

Saban retires with ownership in multiple Mercedes/Ferrari dealerships. Reggie Bush is pimping hamburgers for Wendy’s

That's fine.
We're Alabama. The fresh blood in Tuscaloosa will undoubtedly be able to negotiate a new deal with the NCAA and the power brokers of college football that will inevitably screw over Auburn's ability to compete once again.

The thing is, the man was still competing for championships and recruiting well right up until the end. Obviously he was still able to do well in this current environment.
The playing field is “level” yet somehow Saban was still beating pretty much everyone right up until the end.

The career of the greatest coach of all time hinged on the decision of a teenager that’s never taken a college snap

Saban: I’m getting too old I’m gonna leave (kinda)
Everybody: nah he’s fine it’s the NIL and transfer portal
This is all from losers, whose teams couldn’t beat him, trying to spin a narrative of Saban the loser.

It's weird how folks cling to this NIL thing as the reason Saban hit the bricks. Nothing changed. He utterly dominated NIL and the same sorta Alabama players that hit the portal prior to NIL are the same sort that are hitting it now.
Just look at the guys who bailed prior to his retirement. Same sort that always bails. The sort that are politely shown the door.

Kinda rich coming from a guy that averaged -.3 yds a carry his last yr
So begs the question...go out on your own terms vs get shown the door?

It's as though Nick Saban isn't allowed to retire because he's 72 years old and tired.

I am by no means an Alabama fan but that is just stupid. Most posters on this board, myself included, will be waiting on the grave at 72

Pretty bad look. But not surprised coming from a football player
