DeBoer is a good hire

Nobody except maybe Kirby would be Saban level but DeBoer by all measures is a good game day coach, proven winner, and solid guy.

The only questions are recruiting ability, lack of southern connections and if he can handle southern football culture both with boosters/fans and the types of players. I think Sabans continued involvement will likely be for this purpose, he won’t interfere in the teams day to day but likely will help DeBoer transition into the football culture here and connect him with the right people to open up the proper recruiting lines

All in all I don’t think Alabama falls off much. They may not be as dominant year after year but I expect they’ll be in the 12 team playoff discussion more years than not

That first season with 3 loses and its coming will be gold when the natives become restless. Could happen next year.

The good news is a 10-2 Alabama more times than not will make a 12 team playoff so the new playoff format gives a little cushion for error while being able to compete for the championship
