Having all your top candidates turn the job down seems like a poor plan. I dunno the bama athletic dept sure has a knack for staying on top of things lately like a baseball coach betting against his own loser team or some capital murderers on the bball squad.

All I know is the more coaches that turn bama down, the closer ya'll get to hiring Dumbo...

starting to get the feeling something happened very quickly (prayers it's nothing serious and health related) and no one was expecting him to retire

That idea was blown up early on yesterday when the reports about Saban having a normal day, complete with interviewing potential assistants for job openings
and weekly conference meetings came out. No one in the building seemed to have had an inkling this would happen ahead of that 4pm team meeting.

It is all odd, and screams health issues or a knee-jerk reaction to something else, which isn't really Saban's MO.

I never bought into all the "someone is ready to step in, this was planned" bs...aggy already tried to use that and look where it got them.

My honest feeling is Bama truly didn't expect all of their top 3 to turn them down. The best thing to do is swallow your pride and hire Joey Freshwater. Of course the going from being fired the last time he was employed there to multimillion dollar head coach would give him the ultimate win...but sometimes you just gotta do the right thing. Facts are this: All of your other top candidates are already at destination jobs, and Phil Knight makes Oregon one of those as well. Just stop dicking around and hop on the Lane train.

I thought A&M was the only school that coaches "turned down".
