I’ll share my info from a source very loosely and distantly connected to me. They may or may not know what the hell they are talking about. We’ll see.
It’s Miss Terry’s health that caused the abrupt decision. Conflicting reports that it’s early onset Alzheimers or cancer but whichever one, untreatable. Byrne was told within the last week it was probably coming but very few people knew. Byrne has been given a blank check and a list of 6 pre-approved candidates and a mission to bring one back. Number 1 on the list was Sark. I’ve been told just a little while ago he has already turned it down. Next on the list is Lanning; it’s his job to turn down but if he does, #3 Kiffin has already said yes and is waiting for Lanning’s decision. The players have been told to slow down on portal talk, that a coach would be hired by the weekend and then they could decide what they want to do. TIFWIW and the situation is fluid and all that. I hope I have shared some real info.

Man, I really hope it’s not a major health issue for either of them. They are great people and deserve to enjoy their retirement.

I hope you're full of shite for this reason alone. Nothing personal.

Phil
This does make a lot of sense. Seems logical….. Burns hired Oats while somewhat unknown, but an up and comer.
