This thread is not really about that. Its about how that terrible disappointment ranks in the history of the SEC. Its high up there without a doubt.

1. 2008 Bama. First #1 ranked SEC team to lose in championship game and lose shot at national.

I don't believe it's called choking when the majority of the media, and other fan bases were saying that we hadn't really played anyone, and that Florida was going to win. To me losing a game that the majority of people said we would lose is just that, we lost. Now had everyone (besides Bama fans) been saying we were going to win then that would be choking. Just my opinion.

they were a quarter away from a BCS national title game. I guess you do not have to agree with me.

first undefeated SEC Team to lose in championship game. That is a choke.

From all of your Bama bashing posts Rollie, I can tell you got real excited to see Bama lose! Did you help the AU fans roll Toomer's corner?

BTW, when you get a chance, take a look at the rosters and you'll see why we didn't choke. We had one of the least talented teams ever in the SECCG and still hung with UF even though they are far better talent wise. We overachieved this season by a wide margin!

I was not really emotionally invested in the outcome of the game, and I think that is probably the reason I can see the game for what it was. A terrible lost opportunity for a team that really just crumbled to dust in the fourth quarter.

I have not seen your rankings for biggest chokes in the SEC Championship game yet.

You are one of very few LSU fans that have bashed Bama non-stop from the start of the season to now. I really don't care what you say about the game and how we choked or whatever. Yes we had the lead going into the fourth BUT football is played for 4 quarters and our young team ran out of gas. Lack of depth played a big part in that.

You say we choked but most REASONABLE and KNOWLEDGEABLE people will say that we got beat by the better team!

I do not remember bashing Alabama at all during the season. Not sure how you could bash an undefeated team. I think you may have me confused with some other more hostile poster. I used to have a pretty good relationship with the level headed Alabama posters. That's why I am so shocked at what is happening in these threads.

They had no shot at a national title in 2005.

I am not anti-Alabama. I have siblings that attended that university as well as a number of close friends. I do dislike Auburn a great deal however.

If you're telling the truth, then it's a good thing you dislike Auburn!

There's really one reason we lost that game and it's because UF is a better team. It sucked losing like that but at least it was to a better team. We played over our heads the entire season and I'm extremely proud of the seniors and the underclassmen that matured very quickly.

I would say that UT had the biggest choke job in the SECCG history. They were undefeated and were also favored heavily over LSU. We were #1 but that was simply because everyone else had lost. If OU or UF would have been undefeated going into the CCGs, one of them would have been #1 IMO.

the thing is, no matter how good uf is, bama was in fact leading the game late and was less than 15 min from playing for the nc and they lost. guess what, that's a choke.

It's kind of a choke. It doesn't compare to Tennessee 2001, because Tennessee lost to an inferior team. Bama lost to a better team (some would say much better).

No it's not a choke! Bama ran out of gas because of lack of depth late in the game. They also couldn't move the ball because UF was stacking the box and we only have 1 proven WR.

You might believe it was a choke but I don't see it that way. The better team won and their heisman QB led them to a victory in the fourth.

Yep just like how Georgia was going to make a run for the NC and Auburn/LSU deserved to be in the Top 10
