Per Chris Low, Coach Saban had told AD Greg Byrne at the end of the 2022 season that he was near the end of his career. He told Byrne that it was getting “more and more difficult on him.” This is apparently when Byrne started putting together a list of potential coaches.
Gosh, I read on tRant numerous times Byrne made a "panic hire."
