About the bowl games, Kirby is wrong in saying the 12 team playoff won't fix it....

No one is gonna care that no. 13 got dragged by no. 20 because no. 13s starters opted out.
For more than a decade now, many bowls are sparsely attended. But they are still profitable because they get substantially higher TV ratings than what ESPN would regularly air in that time slot if they weren't played. There was an article posted about this just before the playoff came to be with people saying the playoff would end interest in them. The article just pointed out that it wouldn't end interest and that the ad revenue generated by higher TV ratings would keep them going. I assume that's still true.
And before you tell me how bad the ratings are for these bowl games, again I'm saying that they generate higher ratings that what ESPN would normally air. Therefore they can charge more money for ads. No one is gonna care about this once we start going to 12 unless the kids actually start opting out of legit games.

It’s less about that and more about that and more about no one should be getting dragged because starters opt out- the principle of the matter.
He felt bad for the kids on the sideline, not the espn executives.

#13 will have an argument but nobody outside their fanbase will care. This year it's LSU at 9-3. Who cares?

If they do it right and integrate the bowl games with the 12 team playoff games, then I can see some of the lesser bowl games having more attendance and viewership.
Think about it: with 12 teams, that's a lot of playoff games even if the top 4 get a bye in the first round.

12 team playoff means it will be nearly if not always 12 big 10 and sec teams making the playoff.
