I can see a scenario...

Where USF is really good next year and Golesh is the red hot name. DJ in this offense (Essentially the Tennessee offense) might be something to behold, and a graphic they showed said he had the number one recruiting class in the league. He's so far turned around a dead USF program overnight, runs an explosive and modern offense, is apparently a good recruiter, and has some SEC experience. I'm gonna pump the breaks until we see more, but I'll bet we're talking about this guy a year from now.

I was literally thinking the same thing!

Too soon, need more data, but this Golesh guy is on my radar.

Yep. As sad as it is to have "coaching search" on the brain again, at least, apparently, there isn't going to be a dearth of viable options when that time comes.
And hopefully "Starkville Strick" isn't the one making the hire this time around.

Yeah I know it sucks I wanted Napier to work but I'm past the point now of even trying to convince myself he can figure it out.
I excused everything from the past season but can't believe how much he's botched this off-season.
And Stricklin, yeah he can't be the guy to hire the next football coach.
The thing about the Napier hire wasn't so much that Napier was a bust. Yes, that's bad. However, it wasn't the outcome, but the process of the hire that really rubs me the wrong way. Napier had some buzz and he did a pretty good job at UL Lafayette, so he warranted a look, or consideration. I felt like his resume was thin and the leap from the Sun Belt to SEC was a bit too large for my comfory, but also concede that he has a solid, albeit thin, resume in the Sun Belt.
But the fact that Stricklin hired him, after one interview, without even considering any other candidates was a major red flag. Now, if Stricklin went through an exhaustive search, and decided that the best possible candidate was Napier, then so be it. And if the hire turned out bad, like it did, he would still get flack, however I think it's easier to justify saying the hire didn't work out after doing an exhaustive search (Because that happens, especially with high profile, high pressure roles) than it would be with Strickin's approach of only interviewing one candidate and then hiring them. Unbelievable incompetence. (In hindsight, it should've also been a red flag that Stricklin was instantly impressed by Napier because his only frame of reference for dealing with football coaches as an AD were with MacElwain and Mullen, who are both highly incompetent and terrible coaches in their own respect. Basically, any idiot would seem impressive compared to those dipshits).
It sucks now that Lane is probably a long shot as he is gettig paid at Ole Miss and seems to be building a solid roster, as I thought it was a no brainer hire in 2021. Could've gotten him for a lot cheaper too. Would've brought some excitement back, and even if it didn't work out, probably would've been entertaining and Lane would've trolled some of our rivals.
Instead we have a boring guy who can't coach for shite on the field and isn't even a really good recruiter, considering that that was his supposed strength.

Usf is on the schedule in 2025. It's depressing that I'm even sitting here thinking about the fact that usf could be a tough game in 2 years.

2 years from now?
We nearly lost to them in Gainesville last year

Right, hence my comment...
We've made that little progress.

If he beats either Alabama or Miami, he jumps high up on the list for me.

Highly doubt they win either of those games.

If he's our guy, I hope Gator Nation doesn't riot because he's a "Google coach", he's a solid, potentially great, up and coming young coach.
Obviously it'd be after, in this scenario, we miss on the "big fish", but I like him a whole lot.

I'd rather have Kerwin Bell.

I don't get the love for Kerwin Bell?
What has he done at any P5 program to warrant him even getting an interview?

Former Gator
Good Offenses everywhere he has been
Won everywhere he has been
Has the endorsement of Shane Matthews
Don't get me wrong Kiffin is my first choice.

Again honestly being a former gator means absolutely nothing. What power 4 head coaching experience does he have.

Being a former Gator means more than you think. Pride, loyalty, tradition.

If they hire Kerwin Bell then that is telling everyone that Florida doesn't care about winning in Football ever again.
I would rather see Muschamp hired back than have Kerwin Bell.

Yep we need a Power 4 coach if possible. Haven't looked into his past but some claim the Kansas State coach is an under the radar type pick.
