When is last time SECCG loser was ranked outside top 12 after game?

Seems like this would be a rare occasion, which would essentially make the SECCG lose all its appeal.

I mean, maybe the winner gets a bye, so there's that. What else would be the appeal besides $$$?

2010, 14,15, and 16 for the east... 2002, y2k, 98, 95 are the most recent 4 in the west.

Mizzou 2014 was ranked outside of the top 12 before the SECCG.

That's not really an apples-to-apples comparison. There have been many seasons when the two best teams in the conference were in the same division. Under the old system they couldn't both participate in the SECCG, but going forward that will no longer be the case.
