Yes, because it wasn't exactly that in the days before the BCS when number 1 played number 12 in a bowl and number 2 played number 6.

Even in the BCS, a lot of it was based on where the teams were ranked in the polls, which are just beauty contests in and of themselves.

Teams have more of a chance to win a NC now than at any time before the playoffs.

Logic has flown out the window for some folks today.
