You’re missing a pretty critical piece of the puzzle here, and it relates to the committee’s stated criteria in making selections.

Sure. Because it's been almost 20 years since the SEC wasn't competing for a national championship in either the BCS National Championship Game or the College Football Playoff.

Disappointed sure, but I think you’re greatly misjudging what we thought this team would accomplish this season.
After making the SECCG, it was all gravy from there.
A NY6 bowl would be amazing. A conference championship even better. The CFP was really unexpected for a majority of the year.

Yeah because an undefeated SEC conference champion would routinely be the champion of one of top conferences in that season.
